Riptide Technology is seeking a dynamic Principal Enterprise Architect to support our government customer based in Springfield, VA. 
This position is located onsite.
This position will require U.S. citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Counterintelligence (CI) Polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

    • The Senior-level Principal Enterprise Architect (PEA) directly supports the Activity's Chief Enterprise Architect (CEA) by proactively and holistically helping to align the Activity's IT Enterprise Architecture (EA) direction and solutions with business strategies, and guiding the EA practice and its IT enterprise through transformation and optimization initiatives. The PEA focuses on understanding and applying existing, new, and emerging technologies to transform and optimize business and operating models. They are responsible for helping the Activity plan, design, innovate, orchestrate, facilitate, navigate, and operationalize the digital enterprise. They will also work with the Activity's business leaders and stakeholders to articulate benefits of proposed solutions; influence technical roadmap of enterprise platforms; and help the business prioritize technology program-wide initiatives and efforts.
    • The primary function of the PEA is to provide business, application, and technology consulting and leadership for the Activity's IT solution portfolio. The PEA will review and approve project level architectures and designs for IT projects, and will create these artifacts as needed on large, complex initiatives. They are also a valuable business consultant; conducting analysis of business processes and technologies to determine and validate the stated and unstated needs of the Activity's business unit and enterprise.
    • The PEA leads a diverse, multi-domain team of IT Architects (business, information, solution, technical, security, and other) to tackle unique and complex challenges to achieve business and mission objectives tasked to the Activity's enterprise IT Architecture and Engineering (A&E). They are responsible for providing architectural leadership, guidance, and support for the broader architecture community and EA practice within the Activity.
    • The PEA supports the CEA in responding to disruptive forces by helping the Activity's business leaders facilitate the decision-making process and providing actionable recommendations on initiatives and policies to help the organization drive targeted business outcomes. The PEA is responsible for helping business stakeholders enable their future-state business capabilities that, in tum, drive the organization's targeted business and mission outcomes.
    • The PEA identifies enterprise business drivers and requirements that advance future state architecture capabilities. They create and enhance methods and practices for architecture strategy development, communication, and visualization.
    • Infrequent travel may be required to support the Activity's IT enterprise objectives to include, but not be limited to: EA discussions and technical exchanges; and conferences, training, and professional development. Normally, travel should not exceed 10% annually.

Qualifications

    •  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, System Analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
    •  Shall have 10 or more years of experience in at least three disciplines such as business, information, solution, or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, cloud computing and development, or operations in a multitier environment, with the full development life cycle and significant experience in delivering applications and architecture services in a mission critical production environment.
    • Shall have 5 or more years of experience decomposing requirements into actionable solutions intended for implementation within secure processing environments.
    • Shall have 3 or more years of direct personal experience working with initiatives, activities, and/or projects supporting the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community (IC).
    • Strong understanding with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks.
    • Demonstrated personal hands on experience in developing, sustaining, and maintaining EA products, outputs, and deliverables to include system requirements documents, analysis of alternatives, capability models, operating mode ls, technology roadmaps, IT portfolio, and reference architectures and baselines.
    • Demonstrated experience advising on and recommend emerging technology transition strategies to drive from the current technology environment (As-Is) to the development of the future (To-Be) architectures.
    • Comfortable, experienced, and accomplished at working with business senior leaders and executives, and able to push back in a professional and diplomatic way.
    • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical, nontechnical audiences, and senior-level execuives.
    • Shall meet the minimum credentials for a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) position as defined in Section 6, Table 3.

    • Education:  
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, System Analysis OR a related study, OR equivalent experience.

    • Travel Requirements:  
    • Infrequent travel may be required to support the Activity's IT enterprise objectives to include, but not be limited to: EA discussions and technical exchanges; and conferences, training, and professional development. Normally, travel should not exceed 10% annually.

Desired Qualifications:

    • Master' s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, System Analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
    • Strongly desired to have successfully completed leading industry standard Enterprise Architect certifications such Zachman Certified - Enterprise Architect, CISSP Information System Security Architecture Professional (CISSP-ISSAP), The Open Group TOGAF 9 or Certified Architect (CA), and/or ITIL Master.
    • Significant working experience architecting, engineering and operating cloud native solutions, establishing and leveraging Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) capabilities. 
    • Extensive knowledge of architectural patterns, APIs, microservices, and cloud architecture.
    • Experience designing, developing, securing, and managing APls via API Gateways and proxies.
    • Trusted and respected as a thought leader who can influence and persuade business and IT leaders.
    • Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
    • Ability to integrate EA processes with other planning and operational processes.
    • Ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of at all levels of leadership.
    • Demonstrated experience with leading activities and projects with industry standard project management and agile development methodologies and approaches.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.
