Only 12% of recorded music revenue goes to artists, and 0% goes to fans. The rest is taken by intermediaries like record labels, publishers, tech platforms and lawyers.

Royal is enabling artists to sell ownership in their music to fans instead of corporations, building a deeper connection and allowing fans to succeed alongside them. Fans earn a share of the royalties, which grow as the artist grows in popularity. And artists can offer owners special perks and access that become more treasured as they grow in popularity.

About the role

As our Head of People, you can expect high impact and wide-ranging responsibility: owning full-cycle recruiting, driving HR strategy and delivering best-in-class employee and candidate experience.

We are looking for a builder who thrives in a dynamic environment—unafraid to try new things, embrace new ideas, and welcome suggestions for how we can be more effective in service of the artists and fans we empower. You will be the hiring manager for the People organization.

What will you be responsible for?

    • Full-cycle recruiting: Build a team to source, interview and close over 50 employees over the next year across engineering, operations, sales and support. Design our candidate experience from first contact through Day 1 onboarding. Build a recruiting brand that attracts the most talented candidates from across web3, tech and music.
    • Career development: From day 1, ensure teammates are able to operate with autonomy and impact. Our teammates should have trained managers, clear goals they're accountable to, and receive consistent and honest feedback about how they can increase their scope of impact at royal and beyond.
    • Culture: Working at royal should be intense and intellectually challenging, but it should not challenge our health and wellbeing. See around corners on issues related to team communication and collaboration. Build processes that enable employees to work faster, not slower. Keep a close eye on morale and culture as we scale. Know what is about to break.

    • You see around corners. You can lead our company through the stages of hyper-growth. You know where process helps, and hurts. When to iterate on leveling guidelines and hire HRBP, and where to let small fires burn.
