Scale Biosciences is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Site Operations & Materials Manager who exhibits great attention to detail and who takes pride in their work to join our Operations Team. This role requires a sharp, flexible person that can easily adapt to changing needs and is proactive in performing duties to ensure the site is running, materials are where they need to be, and customers are served with the highest quality.  This role will be responsible for handling a wide variety of activities such as facilities maintenance, material handling, shipping, receiving and assuring the site is running effectively. This role will collaborate effectively with Manufacturing, Customer Support, Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to assure the optimal service level and compliance across the organization.  The person in this role will critically impact the success of Scale Biosciences operations and our customers. 

This is a temporary assignment with the possibility of becoming regular full-time. On-site presence in San Diego, CA is required for the role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Materials 
    • Pick, Pack and Ship of finished product to customers globally.
    • Preparing shipments by packing and addressing parcels, online booking, coordinating pickup, collecting products and keeping detailed and accurate records (e.g. quantity, price, order #).
    • Receive materials from carriers, transact into the Scale systems, label and/or distribute parts.
    • Resolve discrepancies between POs and products received.
    • Issue inventory material out of the system as it exits its designated location.
    • Lead inventory management for the site; assure correct cycle counts and location.
    • Deliver materials to designated inventory locations or to end-users.
    • Set up and maintain clean, highly organized, and clearly labeled stockrooms, inventory freezers and refrigerators across the site.
    • Establish and sustain a 5S environment for all Operations areas (Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing).
    • Track and update the status of outgoing shipments.
    • Collaborate and communicate with logistics, customer service, service providers, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
    • Support shipment of outbound materials for marketing and sales events, new hire materials, etc.
    • Support kitting and packaging of final product with Manufacturing Team.
    • Assist other members of the Supply Chain and Operations teams, as needed.

    • Site Support 
    • Assure site is operational by working with landlord, janitors, IT support and others for business continuity.
    • Manage the ordering and stocking of food.
    • Monitor office supplies, furniture and appliances.
    • Engage with vendors and delivery drivers with a positive attitude.
    • Work with team members to ensure daily procedures are completed.

Skills and Capabilities:

    • Great attention to detail and product quality.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Can prioritize and multi-task to keep daily programs on track while maintaining quality standards.
    • Strong time organization skills and working with a sense of urgency for customer orders.
    • Possess a keen sense of customer service.
    • Able to work independently and within a team.
    • Able to lift 50 pounds and operate a pallet jack.
    • Must be able to stand and walk for periods of time while performing duties.
    • Ability to comprehend and convert between different physical units of measure, including metric volume and weight.

Education and Experience:

    • High School diploma or GED required.
    • Five years of experience in basic and advanced warehousing and supply chain concepts (Kanban, LEAN, 5S etc.).
    • Familiar with ERP software; NetSuite experience is ideal.
    • Proficiency using software such as MS SharePoint, Excel, Word, and databases.
    • One year of experience using FedEx Ship Manager, UPS WorldShip or DHL Easy Ship.
    • Experience in logistics, retail, or customer service roles is a plus.
Below is the salary range for this temporary position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Base Salary Range - $80,000 - $95,000 USD
