The Vice President, Global Marketing and Product will drive the overall marketing strategy for the Scale Bio portfolio of products as well as the product strategy in partnership with the teams for its rapid growth trajectory and to drive innovation across all global markets where we currently are active, and others as we expand. This role will report directly to the CEO and will be responsible for leading and growing a best-in-class Product Management, Marketing Communications, and Market Development team. The ideal candidate must have commercial leadership experience in Life Sciences research tools and very strong technical foundation with out-of-the box creative flare. Along with a passion for customers and product, the candidate must be able to develop a strategic plan, execute personally and through the team, and thrive in an ultra-fast paced environment. The VP, Global Marketing and Product will work closely across all the departments at Scale Bio and must be an inspirational team player.

What You'll Do:

    • Develop and execute yearly strategic marketing plans.
    • Develop with the product development team yearly product development strategic plans.
    • Develop and manage a multi-department budgets with precision.
    • Report out quarterly business accomplishments, areas of focus, and areas to adjust to meet commercial goals and company OKRs.
    • Represent the commercial function as a Product Approval Committee member.
    • Hire the absolute best, coach and grow team members, and act swiftly with performance issues.
    • Collect and represent voice of customer.
    • Assist in product forecasting and pricing strategies.
    • Be obsessive about industry trends, emerging technologies, and landscape companies to inform product and marketing strategies.
    • Assist in defining product priorities.
    • Drive the implementation of marketing automation tools for more effective digital marketing and segmentation.
    • Accountable for delivering through the team messaging, positioning, objection handling, and other sales enablement tools for the sales organization.
    • Accountable for contractors including Public Relations, Event Coordination, Design Agency, Third Party Media. 
    • Represent the company at key customer and conference events by presenting and speaking with customers.

About You:

    • Technical Bachelor’s Degree required, PhD nice to have.
    • MBA or other higher level education degrees are ideal.
    • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in marketing leadership or related function in Life Sciences required.  Experience in Single Cell or Spatial Technologies ideal.
    • Must have experience launching products.
    • Deep understanding of academic, biotech, and pharma customers, market drivers, and their areas of research.
    • Experience as both a strategic thought leader to help drive corporate initiatives and a willingness and ability to switch to hands on leader as necessary.
    • Ability to contribute both creatively and analytically.
    • Early-stage, and mid-sized company experience preferred.
    • Excellent communicator and effective in presenting commercial and strategic information to a wide variety of audiences: customers, internal leadership, board of directors.
    • Demonstrated leadership of strong team culture and talent retention.
    • Solid track record of building strong relationships and working with different personality types and all levels inside and outside the company.
    • Experience with Wordpress, Hubspot, SFDC, and Social Media platforms highly desired.
    • Ability to travel ~30% both domestically and internationally. 
    • In office San Diego, CA or San Carlos, CA highly desirable.
Below is the salary range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Base Salary Range - $225,000 - $280,000 USD
