As a Customer Identity Authentication Staff Software Engineer at StubHub, you'll play a pivotal role in crafting robust and user-friendly authentication systems. The CIAM Engineer will support variouscorporate initiatives using external identity management with custom software and automation to facilitate sophisticated authentication and authorization scenarios. About the Team:
The Identity Platform Engineering Team is responsible for managing customer identities, developing, and maintaining authentication/authorization processes and services, and implementing safeguards to protect customer accounts. From third party login and password-less authentication to guest checkout, the team plays a key role in enabling product teams to allow customers to create and authenticate in new and innovative ways, all the while ensuring customers' accounts are secure.
What You've Done:
- 5-6+ years of professional experience in software development OR security engineering
- Is a pragmatic security leader who believes in risk focused, scalable security approaches
- Has strong technical background in scalable security solutions, as well as extensive experience in designing and developing robust, distributed systems using general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Java, C#, Python)
- Has effective communication skills and a product focused mindset to build the right solutions for your customers
- Professional level of understanding of Enterprise or Customer Identity & Access Management, Single Sign-On, Multi-Factory Authentications (MFA), and Authentication, Privileged Access Management (PAM), Identity Governance & Administration concepts
- In depth understanding of identity Protocols and technologies: OpenID Connect (OIDC,) OAuth, SAML, AD-Fed, API Gateways, SCIM, and platforms such as Ping Identity, Okta, MS Azure, and ForgeRock
- Knowledge of fraud prevention and detection, identity proofing and identity verification technologies
- Experience working within a fast-paced development lifecycle and looks for ways to eliminate friction with technology
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain customer identity authentication systems, ensuring a balance between security and user experience.
- Implement innovative authentication mechanisms to elevate the overall customer journey.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to seamlessly integrate authentication solutions into StubHub's platform.
- Ensure the reliability and scalability of authentication systems, prioritizing a seamless experience for StubHub users.
- Stay updated on industry trends to continually improve and innovate authentication technologies.
- Design and deliver centralized CIAM solutions across multiple diverse business domains and application architectures including solutions for API-driven cloud and cloud/hybrid-based applications.
- Deliver custom CIAM solutions that fulfill requirements not met by standard out-of-box functionality.
- Integrate applications with Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), Open Authorization (OAuth), OpenID Connect (OIDC), JSON Web Token (JWT), or other industry standard authentication and/or authorization solutions.
- Engage in hands-on support of advanced identity solutions, including CI/CD architecture, custom interfaces, and automation

The anticipated gross annual base salary range for this role is $240,000 – $350,000 per year. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which also includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
