Position Overview  
Sublime Systems seeks one or more creative and dynamic R&D Interns to contribute to the development of our technology. This position is a part of a co-op/ internship program with the term of employment lasting approximately 3-6 months. Recent high school graduates or college students who are seeking hands-on research experience as a supplement to their education are encouraged to apply. 
 
The intern will be responsible for conducting research on Sublime Systems’ cement. As a member of Sublime Systems’ R&D team, the intern will work closely with the company’s experienced researchers and will receive extensive mentorship. This is an exciting opportunity to develop valuable professional skills while combating global climate change by transforming how the world makes cement. This is a full time (40 hr/week) position located in Somerville, MA.  
 
Responsibilities include: 
•Preparing cement test specimens 
•Measuring cement properties such as compressive strength, setting time, and flow characteristics in Sublime Systems’ laboratory 
•Analyzing cement performance data and presenting results 
•Championing safety, especially in the development of experimental processes 
•Contributing to the development of Sublime’s cement through literature reviews and informational interviews with industry experts 
•Fostering Sublime Systems’ reputation by delivering innovative solutions 
•Helping to develop a supportive, innovative, and dynamic company culture  

 
Knowledge and Skill Requirements  
The role will focus on cement material testing. This role is expected to be hands-on, with a significant amount of time spent engaging in lab testing. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a laboratory, and is results-driven, detail-oriented, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
 
•High school diploma required. Ideal candidates will have plans to pursue higher education in a STEM discipline such as chemistry, chemical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, or a related field. 
•Able to perform lab work including preparing cement test specimens, setting up and operating testing equipment, and recording results. 
•Able to lift objects up to 50 lbs.  
•Previous laboratory research experience is a plus.  
•Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal. 
•Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, distill information, consult, and suggest new approaches. 
•Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality, without losing sight of the bigger picture. 
•Balance, perspective, and a good sense of humor.
