The Opportunity
We are looking for a talented frontend software engineer located to join our growing development team. Symmetry is an early stage startup in a new category of technology Data Security Posture Management (DSPM). We are making our mark with customers and prospects through interesting data visualizations and seamless workflows backed by machine learning.
To say we have an obsession with visualizations would be an understatement. We love advanced visualizations of data (D3 and SVG plugins). We are looking for teammates who will share in this deep obsession of creator and presenter.
What We Need
Ideal candidates for this role will have a background building responsive and scalable Single Page Applications (SPAs) using ReactJS, HTML, CSS, visualization libraries such as HighCharts and D3, as well as other SVG-based visualization plugins.
We look for candidates who exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and want to shape the future of this product with a bit of personal creativity. You are passionate about your work, show attention to detail, take initiative, have an infectious team spirit, and of course exhibit a collaborative attitude. We are especially interested if you love telling compelling visual stories about rich data experiences.
What You Will Do
- Gather feedback, measure, and iterate on the user experience of the Symmetry DataGuard application.
- Collaborate closely with our product designers, security experts, and leadership team to develop user interfaces that customers and prospects feel joy working with.
- Write documented, readable, and maintainable frontend code.
- Own complete testability of the frontend development stack from integration tests to automated build pipelines.
- Participate in team ceremonies, product planning, and code reviews.
- Contribute to architecture/design discussions.
- Help lead and scale our engineering organization.
- Mentor other engineers.
What You Will Bring
- 5+ years experience
- Experience with a modern day JavaScript framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- Demonstrable knowledge of ES6 JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
- Confidence with TypeScript, GraphQL, Apollo Client/Server, and REST.
- Familiarity with Elasticsearch is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud-based services in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Working knowledge of Jest and React Testing Library.
- Ability to write reusable React components with Material UI or similar UI frameworks.
- State management with Recoil, Redux, or MobX.
- Debug and measure performance using Chrome and React DevTools.
- Frontend tools like npm, Yarn, Vite, Webpack, Lerna, and Nx.
- Strong Google-Fu and doc-reading skills.
- Love/hate relationship with YAML... It’s OK if you love to hate YAML.
