What you will be responsible for:
We are looking for an experienced architect to join our integrated architecture and engineering team focusing on volumetric prefabricated offsite construction and onsite assembly of single-family homes. You will be responsible for architectural documentation, permitting processes, coordinating with Aro’s procurement organization, responding to manufacturing requests and inquires, and supporting Site Operations during the assembly of Aro homes.  This role includes collaborating with our Development Manager working with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ’s) and state permitting agencies to capture, analyze, and incorporate changes and improvements into Aro’s working models and documentation.  It also includes working with Aro’s Site acquisition team to review zoning codes and test fitting properties. 

What You’ll Do:

    • Support the Development Manager and work with Local Authorities Having Jurisdiction and their requirements to quickly compile and submit building permit packages.
    • Support the development of a scalable system to manage permitting and revision process for multiple projects in multiple jurisdictions simultaneously.
    • Perform coordination of the product and any new material/design changes with all disciplines to ensure smooth implementation with the product.
    • Coordinate Aro product documentation with design consultants’ work such as Civil, Landscape and other 3rd party consultants to create project specific drawing packages.
    • Support the review of site test fits plans against local zoning codes for potential property acquisition.
    • Create technical drawing packages that express exact installation procedures, such as shop drawings and field installation drawings.
    • Develop and manage technical product documentation needed by the Design, Manufacturing, and Site Operations teams.
    • Understand Master Format CSI Categories and Architectural Specifications.
    • Work in Revit at a high level and ability learn new software tools quickly.
    • Develop a deep understanding of all aspects of the product and assembly process to help wherever needed.
    • Track and manage product RFI’s, red-lines and design feedback from the manufacturing and site operations teams, across various documentation types, such as permit documents, shop drawings, product installation literature, etc.
    • Work with Design, Manufacturing and Procurement to develop product configurations and material and finish palettes.
    • Work with Aro’s procurement team and 3rd party subcontractors and vendors on material identification, ordering, and part numbering.
    • Work with Aro’s Manufacturing team, Site Ops team, partner GC and subcontractors to quickly answer RFI’s and possible substitution or deviation requests.
    • Focus on Quality across processes, design models, product data and specifications, and documentation.

Skills & Qualifications:

    • Minimum 7 years' experience in architecture: entitlements, design, permitting, and construction management.
    • Master's degree in architecture or equivalent.
    • Registered Architect in California ideal.
    • Experience with BIM systems, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360 Cloud environment and other similar tools. 
    • Experience with Bluebeam for PDF reviews and drawings set compilation.  
    • Experience with modular or prefab building a plus. 
    • Willingness to learn new product and project delivery methods and software platforms. 
    • Willingness to jump in and provide support across the company outside of domain expertise. 
    • Onsite construction experience a plus.

$110,000 - $140,000 a year
