The Senior Accountant for Virtus will play a significant role in the finance department, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. Functions performed by this position include, but are not limited to, assisting with the monthly financial close, financial statement preparation, revenue and expense analysis, account reconciliations, journal entries, commission processing, payroll processing, and other activities as requested by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Assist the Controller with critical aspects of the month-end close process. 
•Lead the transfer of accounting data from 3 agency management systems into the General Ledger. 
•Prepare complex account reconciliations and journal entries on a timely basis.
•Assist with timely and accurate financial statement preparation and analysis.
•Process semi-monthly Payroll and quarterly Commission payments.
•Lead the calculation and reconciliation of Commission expense and payments.
•Accounting for subsidiary Companies.

Knowledge, Skills and/ or Abilities
•3-5+ years of experience in a similar role.
•Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or other business degree and accounting experience required.
•CPA or CPA exam readiness preferred.
•Understanding of GAAP and researching other guidance.
•Solid understanding of accounting best practices relating to account reconciliations and journal entries.
•Extensive experience with large ERP systems including the mining and manipulation of data as required to ensure accurate financial statements.
•Must have familiarity and good working knowledge of various Microsoft software applications (Excel), Agency Management Systems, and the ability to learn new software systems.
•Strong Excel knowledge; pivot tables, lookups, logical formulas, and other spreadsheet functionality.
•Demonstrated ability to take initiative as required to suggest improved processes and analyses of accounting data.
•Ability to effectively complete all monthly close activities on time and with accuracy.
•Must be a well-organized, self-starter with a process improvement mentality.
•Demonstrated ability to learn ‘the business’ and have a business and customer service focus.
•Ability to collaborate and develop relationships with coworkers.
•Must possess personal and business integrity with an energetic style demonstrated by a positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
