Position Summary: 
The Media Relations Specialist is responsible for shaping and protecting Xpansiv’s corporate image through various forms of media.  The primary focus is on maintaining positive public relations and conveying the brand’s purpose and message.  Responsible for executing effective social media strategies across multiple platforms supporting engagement with targeted virtual communities and building brand awareness. Update and maintain the collateral repository.  Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

What you’ll do:

    • Support Formulating PR Plans and Strategies:  Support development and execution of media relations strategies to enhance Xpansiv’s voice and presence across online and offline channels.  
    • Support Managing Media Relations:  Support cultivating relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets.  Handle media requests and coordinate interviews.  
    • Support Writing PR Copy:  Support creation of press releases, speeches, and other PR materials that effectively communicate the organization’s messages.  
    • Support Planning and Supervising Media Events:  Support organizing and overseeing events, conferences and other promotional activities related to the media.  
    • Support Promotional Plans:  Collaborate with marketing team to align media efforts with overall promotional campaigns. 
    • Facilitate Dispute Resolution:  Address public concerns related to media coverage.  
    • Analyze Public Opinion:  Stay informed about trends and sentiments to guide PR efforts.   
    • Social Media Content Publishing: Execute social media strategies across multiple platforms including LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. 
    • Community Interaction and Moderation:  Foster community interaction by actively participating in relevant conversations on social channels.  Moderate user-generated content to maintain a positive brand image.   
    • Collateral Repository:  Maintain & track collateral repository.  

What you’ll bring:

    • Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field. 
    • 2 to 3 years working in a Media Relations role or in Public Relations. 
    • Must possess excellent written and interpersonal communications skills with strong writing and editorial abilities.   
    • Highly organized with the ability to multitask. 
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, internet, wire services, media monitoring software, and other public relation tools. 
    • Demonstrated success with social media tools such as LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and others. 
    • Most possess strong project management skills. 
    • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment and see a project through to completion. 
    • Must have the ability to work effectively in a team. 
    • Must be capable of maintaining confidentiality, with a high level of accuracy regarding information. 
    • Knowledge of markets and environmental commodities preferred. 
Base Salary
Compensation for this role will vary among specific regions due to geographic differentials in the labor market, actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, knowledge, education and training. However, compensation in the following regions is expected to be as follows:
New York: Compensation is expected to be between
$75,000 and $93,000
