Andreessen Horowitz, a high technology venture capital firm, has an immediate opening for a General Partner Chief of Staff.
 
Andreessen Horowitz is a $6.5 billion venture capital firm focused on software and Internet investments. The firm invests at all stages of company development, with investments ranging in size from $50,000 to $100 million. Among its investments are Affirm, Airbnb, Altschool, Buzzfeed, Coinbase, Databricks, DigitalOcean, Gigster, GitHub, Instacart, Lyft, Mixpanel, Onshape, Pinterest, and Slack.
 
The GP Chief of Staff (COS) will report into the Managing Partner and be responsible for a variety of activities related to the operations of Andreessen Horowitz. The core responsibilities will fall into 3 related domains:

Investor Relations:

    • The COS will work directly with the Managing Partner to engage with all aspects of managing existing and developing new investor relationships:
    • Regular quarterly reporting to LPs
    • Ad hoc analyses of investing data to support LP/firm-wide questions
    • Coordinate and attend meetings with LPs and other members of the firm
    • Support major fundraising initiatives
    • Support activities in support of new investor relationship development 

GP Management:

    • The COS will work directly with the firm’s General Partners to ensure accountability and management of their core firm-wide responsibilities:
    • Coordinate with Deal Operations to ensure GP accountability throughout the deal process
    • Manage various ad-hoc GP workstreams – e.g., GP recruiting, GP time allocation on various non-investing workstreams
    • Create and manage GP “scorecard” to measure and track contributions to help inform GP annual review cycle
    • Manage the EIR program with sponsoring GPs

Reporting/Analytics:

    • Report on insights from past investing performance to inform go-forward investment strategies
    • Report on reserves/cash management by fund
    • Report on investment trends – e.g., early vs late-stage; success of follow-on investing, etc.

Ideal Candidate Background:

    • BS or BA degree
    • 3-5 years of work experience in business operations or program management required
    • Detail-oriented with excellent project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
    • The flexibility, energy, and attention to detail needed to handle a heavy workload and rapidly changing contexts and view projects at a macro level while tracking the most granular details
    • Ability to build deep and lasting relationships with a variety of internal partners, with whom no direct line supervision exists, as well as external individuals
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability take complex data and prepare executive level summary including analytical financial reporting; strong spreadsheet skills required
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
    • Strong work ethic and great interpersonal skills that foster a team environment
    • High degree of integrity and professionalism
