The VP Media Strategy oversees the agency’s media offerings, bringing a unique channel and target audience perspective and marketing optimization accountability to every brand. This individual will drive growth at the agency by securing and expanding additional media initiatives with current clients, and also work to identify opportunities to obtain new business. As the function media lead within Integrated Strategy, the V.P. Media Strategy will partner and collaborate across all functions in the agency to foster deeper insight and tactical innovation.  They provide oversight to ensure that the media team is providing strategically integrated media planning and delivering on the marketing objectives across all media channels.     

Functions and Responsibilities

    • Manages all functions, personnel and deliverables with the Media team, seamlessly integrating print and digital media efforts, SEM/Paid Search initiatives and the analytics that sell and shape each media effort into the overall strategic offering of the agency
    • Direct all media programs and oversee plan development and optimization to ensure alignment with brand strategy 
    • Clearly articulate and present overall media strategy and approach to internal stakeholders and the clients
    • Develop and regularly update departmental staffing plan to ensure staff are meeting the evolving needs of the agency
    • Mentor and guide direct reports enabling education for advancement and enhancing understanding of client and agency business
    • Ensure staff are receiving internal and external training that sharpen skills and enhance knowledge
    • Managing labor estimates to ensure appropriate time is available for necessary work
    • Manage billable hour output and evaluate need for staffing adjustments
    • Maintain executive publisher, association, research company and other industry supplier relations
    • Conduct performance evaluations per AT process
    • Negotiate contracts/agreements with partners (syndicated research, outsourced work, other services)

• Develop compelling and innovative media recommendations that further secure AT’s role as a trusted client partner and that drives new tactical thinking and creativity in the agency

    • Cultivate in-depth knowledge of client business and competitive set to leverage insights and actively seek new media opportunities that drive results
    • Act as face of the agency for all media-related industry events, new business opportunities, and critical client meetings
    • Facilitate seamless integration with Engagement Strategy to ensure each plan fulfills the vision of ES recommendations
    • Remain on the cutting edge of new media offerings and innovations to ensure the agency is bringing elevated thinking to clients
    • Provide guidance in responding to client requests (e.g., plan changes, budget changes, provide marketplace information, POV on new media opportunities)
    • Participate in new business pitches as required
    • Work with team to develop reports of media metrics for client presentations and provide actionable insights based on results 

Planning/Buying Skills

    • 10 or more years media planning and buying experience
    • In-depth knowledge of media planning across all channels including Video, Audio, Print, OOH, Retail (pharmacy), POC, Digital, EMR/EHR, Programmatic, Search, Social, Non-personal promotion
    • Experienced understanding of SEM, search strategy and paid media efforts
    • Expertise in writing and presenting engaging, strategically on-target media recommendations to clients
    • Expertise in providing oversight and adding value to the implementation of media recommendations    
    • At the forefront of new media, technology and resources used in communication planning and buying
    • Independent creation and training of department planning and buying philosophies
    • Proficient understanding and use of third-party research or AT-subcontracted tools (i.e. AIM, Medi-Chek, SRDS, CTS, ByDoctorTM, CPM Rx Data, IMS Health Data, etc.)

    • Demonstrates excellent writing and analytical skills
    • Ability to cultivate industry relations
    • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook (required)
    • Bachelor’s Degree required
