Assist the Chief Engineer in the supervision and coordination of all activities concerned with the general operation and maintenance work of the mechanical, electrical and craft services.  Function as a working group leader in these areas.

Essential Functions:

    • Assumes the Chief Engineer’s duties during his/her absence.
    • Assist the Chief Engineer in developing work assignments for each employee.
    • Handles special work assignments and trouble calls.
    • Adhere to quality levels and standard practices for all work performed.
    • Assist in training personnel in proper operating procedures and techniques.
    • Enforce appropriate safety regulations.
    • Conduct regular inspections, report findings and make recommendations to the Chief Engineer.
    • Operate mechanical and electrical equipment, which supply the job site with power, heat, refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation.
    • Posses adequate license requirements for the facility.
    • Stands scheduled shift watches and work with the tools of the stationary engineer’s trade.
    • Perform any additional duties as directed by the Chief Engineer within the scope of contractual and union agreements.

Minimum Requirements:

    • Experience that is commensurate with the specific facility for the position of Assistant Chief Engineer. Prefer 3+ years progressive operations experience.
    • Strong employee relation skills, coaching skills and training skills.
    • As required, highest-level relevant state/local license for stationary engineer and/or HVAC, plus universal level refrigerant recovery license.
    • BOMA accredited courses desirable.
    • Preferred: High-rise Fire Safety Director, Haz-Mat Certification, Indoor Air Quality Certification, LEED Certification.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Computer skills and building automation systems experience required.
    • Certification meeting OSHA ACM awareness training requirements as required.
    • Working knowledge of energy conservation required, formal training preferred.
$59.28 - $59.28 an hour
Pay: $ 59.28/ hourly
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position.   A specific offer will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
