This Chief Engineer, Avionics role will role responsible for developing the RS1 program for increased reliability and manufacturable as the program scales. With a focus on impactfully applying hard earned knowledge in a dynamic environment while mentoring and growing a team of engineers.
We are looking for someone who is capable of bridging disciplines to work with the hardware software and systems engineers. This role will span the scope of both technical leaderships, as well as the mentorship and growth of exceptional engineers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work to ensure that the unified final design of the avionics system meets and exceeds the mission’s requirements
- Work to improve the design of the vehicle from system level across multiple disciplines
- Verify that industry best practices are applied correctly and effectively
- Develop engineer, manufacturing and integration best practices and processes to maximize mission success while not impacting the ability to produce at scale.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineer or similar major
- 10+ years of experience working with complicated electrical systems
- 5+ years developing and delivering Avionics assemblies from design to initial low-rate production
- Experience completed environmental qualification in demanding environments.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity with industry best practices like SMC-C-016, IPC and other electronics focused standards
- Experience with launch vehicle engineering activities, integration, and test, and launch operations
- Experience troubleshooting vehicle levels issues with developing launch system in an integrated operational environment
- Experience collecting and maintaining requirements for complex, multi-domain systems
$175,000 - $258,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $175,000 - $258,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
