As the Lead Environmental Test Lab Technician, you will perform testing operations and ensure the highest standards of quality. You should have a strong background in environmental testing with an emphasis on vibration, shock, and thermal testing. We are seeking a seasoned professional with a strong passion for multidisciplinary testing, design development, and problem-solving. You will collaborate closely with a diverse team of engineers, overseeing satellite hardware testing during the design and construction phases. The ideal candidate possesses extensive expertise in mechanical disciplines, is hands-on, adaptable, quick to learn, excels in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates exceptional self-motivation and leadership skills. These traits will provide the foundation to help ABL validate components for flight.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Train team members on certain processes to ensure accuracy and timely completion of tasks
    •  Collaborate with manager to ensure projects are being executed within the team
    •  Program and operate thermal chambers to simulate environments and run tests
    • Program and operate electro-dynamic test shakers to simulate environments and run tests
    • Operate and tune shock systems to analyze transient events representative of environments
    • Perform tests with high pressure and cryogenic fluids
    • Work with engineering to troubleshoot hardware and test discrepancies
    • Maintain lab cleanliness, improve efficiency, and work on 5S improvement projects
    • Responsible for preventative maintenance of lab equipment
    • Use of mechanical hand tools and torque wrenches to setup test fixtures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience with mechanical/structural/fluid/electrical systems
    • 3+ years of experience performing electronic testing and inspection using portable measuring devices
    • Understanding of vibration, shock, and thermal testing
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
    • Travel may be required

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • 6+ years of experience in test development or manufacturing/production environment
    • Experience running thermal testing
    • Experience running vibration and shock testing
    • Experience running high pressure testing
    • Experience running using cryogenic fluids
    • Experience in space, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environments
    • Industry certification, Trade School training, and/or Military experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS:

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
    • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
    • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
    • Must be able to work overtime and /or weekends as needed
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
$35.20 - $52.80 an hour
This is the lowest to highest compensation range we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the compensation range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
