Payroll Manager
As a payroll manager, you will be responsible for managing the payroll process from end to end. You will be responsible for overseeing the timekeeping systems and keeping apprised and ensuring compliance with the applicable laws and regulations. You will bridge the gap between the accounting and human resources departments to ensure cohesive communication and documentation. We are looking for a payroll manager who enjoys problem solving and can work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provides information and answering employee questions about payroll related matters
    • Oversees electronic timekeeping system and time reporting; performing audits as needed
    • Manages onboarding of non-exempt employees and managers of non-exempt employees
    • Maintains meal break tracking and policy
    • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll; understands and ensures compliance with applicable provisions; advising management on needed actions
    • Files necessary registrations for new states that employees work in
    • Receives and documents necessary documents necessary approvals prior to processing non-standard payments
    • Processes payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees
    • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
    • Manages the annual 401k audit
    • Process accurate and timely year-end reporting (W-2, etc.)
    • Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports
    • Processes correct garnishment calculations and compliance
    • Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory, and governmental requirements
    • Coordinates with the HR department to ensure correct employee data

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma/GED required
    • 5+ years of experience working in a payroll office
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and payroll software programs
    • Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Good time management and organizational skills
    • Working knowledge of relevant legal regulations
    • Able to prioritize and multitask effectively
    • Detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment
    • Self-motivated, independent, cooperative, and flexible

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, finance, or accounting
    • Experience with UKG Ready Payroll and UKG Time and Scheduling
    • Experience implementing a new payroll system
    • Experience managing a 401k audit

    • End-to-end ownership: projects are delivered fully complete; there is no one to pick up the slack of partially complete work

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENTS:

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
    • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
    • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
The salary range for this role is $85,000 - $150,000. This is the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
