ABL Space Systems was founded in 2017 by veterans of SpaceX and Morgan Stanley to develop low-cost launch vehicles for the small satellite industry. More importantly, we’re building a launch system we are truly proud of – no gimmicks or over-design, just reliable, rapidly deployable launches. We’re an ambitious team with big goals and, together, we’re determined to prove that reaching space can be simple, efficient, and routine.

When launch day arrives, we want you by our side

Environmental Test Engineer
The Environmental Test Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing test procedures for dynamic and thermal environmental testing of components, subsystems for products. They will work directly with the test lab management and various engineering teams to ensure flight hardware is adhering to lab processes and documentation.

    • Ability to design, set-up, and execute complete vibration, shock, thermal cycle, and thermal vacuum testing in a fast-paced environment
    • Write test procedures for products and subsystems by utilizing deep knowledge of the product’s requirements and capabilities and update/modify work instructions as needed throughout the product’s maturation process
    • Improve test methods and processes through workflow optimization, lean manufacturing, and automation
    • Experience with documenting issue tickets and appropriately identifying the root cause and corrective actions to prevent future issues.
    • Execute integrated test plans as a test conductor and engineering authority and ensure products are tested on time with high data integrity.
    • Develop solid working relationships with outside test houses and be the primary test conductor for any remote testing.
    • Design and manufacture in-house and external test fixtures for shock, vibration, and thermal cycle using NX and/or SolidWorks
    • Troubleshoot and maintain onsite environmental test equipment and related fixture and support equipment. This may include vibration/shock fixture, electrodynamic shakers, mechanically-induced pyro shock beams, and thermal chambers and associated instrumentation.
    • Applies lessons learned to the Improvement of test procedures.
    • Develops and documents standardized test methods and processes to ensure repeatability and productivity.
