LAUNCH & TEST TECHNICIAN

Launch & Test Technicians touch everything from components to integrated engines to the fully integrated launch vehicle.  As a Launch & Test Technician, you will be responsible for helping build and maintain our test and launch sites and ground systems, as well asperform critical operations supporting test and launch campaigns. Time will be split between our test site in Mojave, CA and our multiple launch sites.  This role requires a hands-on individual with meticulous attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Build, maintain, and operate test and launch facility infrastructure, including propellant, high pressure, and cryogenic systems 
    • Work along side engineers to execute procedures effectively to balance safety and mission 
    • Troubleshoot and perform maintenance on fluid, mechanical, and electrical systems 
    • Integration of key components and hardware, along with engine and vehicle checkouts 
    • Assist and support the development of the test & launch sites, test schedules, and launch campaigns 
    • Travel in excess of50% to ABL's sites in Mojave, Kodiak, Edwards AFB, VSFB, CCSFS, SaxaVord Spaceport, and beyond 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3+ years of hands-on technical experience in launch operations, test, or R&D environment 
    • Highschool diploma, GED equivalent

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment 
    • 5+ years working with pressurization and cryogenic systems 
    • Experience with hazardous Launch & Test operations 
    • Proficiency with hand tools, lathes, drill presses, welding, electrical harnessing, forklifts and other light mahcinery 
    • Ability to interpret plumbing and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) 
    • Set-up, operation, and maintain all equipment use in fabrication of tubing assemblies 
    • Experience flaring tubing 
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively 
    • Ability to read and interpret work instructions and specifications accurately 
    • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time 
    • Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl 
    • Ability to lift 50+ lbs 
    • Ability to work in extreme climates 
    • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments 
    • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence 
    • Must be willing to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed 
    • Must be willing to travel to launch and test sites to support integration, test, and launch work (travel in excess of 50%) 
$25.60 - $38.40 an hour
This is the lowest to highest compensation range we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the compensation range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
