The Director of Engineering, Data will primarily drive the data strategy within the Technology organization. This person will provide domain expertise, oversee process improvements, and deliver on team projects as it relates to data initiatives including Business Intelligence, Data Architecture, Data modeling, and Data tools. The Director of Engineering, Data will work cross-functionally with the company’s product development, infrastructure, security, and software development teams to provide best practices and views on incorporating data use cases in all aspects of the business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee several key groups with the Technology organization around data primarily around business intelligence and data architecture
- Establish domain expertise and best practices in each of the aforementioned teams.
- Evaluate and adopt best of breed tools around data.
- Define and oversee metrics and objectives that will drive teams towards success
- Possess a clear understanding of the software development lifecycle as it pertains to data
- Work collaboratively with Product, Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to foster a one-team mindset.
- Establish communication standards within Technology and the greater company business units.
Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent education/experience.
- 8+ years in the software development discipline
- Participated in multiple areas of the software development process around data
- Solid understanding of the Agile or SCRUM development process and software release processes.
- Must be a self-starter who is highly organized, hands-on, and a team player.
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, startup environment.
- Experience working with data-oriented and business intelligence tools including
- o Data ETL technologies (Qlik Replicate, DMS)
- o Data Visualization technologies (Tableau)
- o Data Warehouses (Snowflake)
- o Database Technologies (SQL, NoSQL)
- Detail-oriented, with strong written and verbal communication.
