Apprenticely is helping Jonesboro City Water & Light hire an Application Developer Intern to assist with the modernization of internal legacy systems and application development in Jonesboro, AR! This role offers a hands-on opportunity to work with both older programs and modern technologies, ensuring system compatibility and enhancing business operations.
About the Employer: Jonesboro City Water & Light is one of a kind, in that, in Arkansas it is the only municipal improvement district set up which serves water, sewer and electricity to its citizens. Candidates must live within the Jonesboro city limits and will support daily operational activities in the JCWL office
Responsilbilites:
- Assist in managing and developing internal applications using Python, PHP, HTML.
- Analyze and integrate older programs into newer systems to improve functionality and system compatibility.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to support data management and ensure smooth data integration across platforms.
- Support the customization and modernization of JCWL’s legacy systems to align with current business needs.
- Collaborate with the Business Network team to implement solutions that streamline operations.
- Work on data fundamentals and management, ensuring efficient handling and use of data across JCWL platforms.
What Skills Does an Ideal Candidate Have?
- Proficiency in SQL. Experience writing and optimizing queries preferred.
- Development experience in Python, PHP, and HTML Strong understanding of legacy system integration and modernization.
- Knowledge of database management and working with customizable platforms.
- Ability to analyze older programs and update them to meet modern standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team environment.
Our Must Haves:
- Ability to work in the United States without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
- Current Arkansas state resident
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to meet CWL of Jonesboro Background, Drug Screen and Physical Examination Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
Details:
- Pay: $15/hour
- Schedule: 40-hour week: typically 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday-Friday
- Length of Internship: 3 months
- Location: City Water and Light of Jonesboro Office in Jonesboro, AR
$15 - $15 an hour
