Arkansas Center for Data Sciences (ACDS) is helping Jonesboro City Water & Light hire an Industrial Engineering Technician to operate and maintain the energy and resources in Jonesboro, AR!  No experience is required- training will be provided! Open to diverse backgrounds within the construction, maintenance, electrical, cybersecurity, telecommunications, OR other computer-related fields. Self-taught, tech-savvy individuals who enjoy hands-on troubleshooting and have a passion for technology are encouraged to apply!

About the Employer: Jonesboro City Water & Light is one of a kind, in that, in Arkansas it is the only municipal improvement district set up that serves water, sewer, and electricity to its citizens. The major advancements made by this company can be attributed to conservative, but progressive leadership through its managers and the board of directors who have been willing to look to the future with the interests of Jonesboro in mind!

Industrial Engineering Technician must live within the Jonesboro city limits and will support daily operational activities in the office and at respected job site locations including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and monitoring hardware. 

Responsiblities:

    • Oversight of servers, equipment maintenance, and diagnose downtime issues to ensure efficiency
    • Installation and maintenance of equipment
    • Ensure daily safety and operational efficiency of the facility
    • Conduct regular inspections on water systems, generational facility and automation equipment
    • Deterrence of power outages or malicious attacks
    • Monitor the site’s video surveillance and security system
    • Communicate tasks such as progress, plans, timelines, requirements, etc.

Ideal Candidate Background Includes:

    • Previous work history within construction, maintenance, electrical, cybersecurity, OR other computer-related fields
    • Experience in a help desk or similar IT role or a proven ability to provide a high level of skilled support
    • Intermediate computer skills and a good understanding of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), inventory management systems, and machine monitoring software
    • Relevant technical experience in commercial or industrial fields

The Must Haves:

    • Ability to work in the United States without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
    • Current Jonesboro, Arkansas resident
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to meet CWL of Jonesboro Background, Drug Screen, and Physical Examination Requirements
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Superior communication skills with the ability to interact, converse, and share ideas effectively with a wide range of people, internally and externally

Details:

    • Pay: $15/hour
    • Schedule: 40-hour week: typically 8:00pm - 5:00pm. Monday-Friday
    • Length of Internship: 3 months
    • Location: Jonesboro, Arkansas
How does the interview process work? ACDS will conduct an initial phone interview and assessment. ACDS will send selected resumes to companies that match the candidate’s skills and interests. Our employer partners will decide who to interview and select the final candidates for the internship program.
