The opportunity:
Achievers is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Global Indirect Tax Analyst to join our expanding global tax team. In this role, you play a key role in US state and local as well as global indirect tax compliance. You will also play a key role in implementing and scaling our tax technology as our business expands globally. You will report directly to the Senior Manager – Indirect Tax and Corporate Accounting.
As Achievers continues its global growth, this position will be critical in navigating complex tax landscapes and ensuring multi-jurisdictional compliance. We are seeking a proactive, tech-savvy problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces learning, and enjoys cross-functional collaboration.
This position will be base out of our head office in Toronto, Canada, and hybrid 2-3 days a week.
What you'll do:
- Work with team members to prepare and file indirect tax returns and remit sales tax payments across Canada, the US, UK, Australia, Colombia, and other jurisdictions as the business expands
- Manage reseller and exemption certificates process
- Respond to and resolve tax authority correspondence and notices
- Lead indirect tax audits, from data compilation through to final resolution
- Compile and issue annual tax slips for service providers, including US 1099 and Canada T4A-NR
- Conduct internal tax reviews to identify savings opportunities and minimize tax leakage
- Evaluate tax impacts of new product offerings and geographic expansions
- Build and apply subject matter expertise in Avalara and ERP system integrations to resolve technical and operational issues, support systems modifications and enable scaleable tax solutions for expanding into new jurisdictions
- Leverage Excel, ERP systems, and tax software to streamline and improve accuracy of compliance and reporting workflows
- Assist with data analytics and visualization to deliver actionable tax insights.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of global indirect tax policies, processes, and internal controls
- Build strong relationships across the organization and with external advisors.
- Clearly explain complex tax concepts to non-financial stakeholders
- Collaborate cross-functional to understand business requirements and perform tax analysis for Achievers SaaS & Marketplace platform
- Contribute to customer and vendor onboarding processes with tax advice and insights

What we're looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
- CPA designation or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of indirect tax experience in Canada and/or the U.S.
- Experience with sales tax engines (e.g. Avalara) including implementation is an asset
- Working knowledge of global tax technical regulations and research methodologies
- Regulatory agility: ability to stay current on evolving legislation and manage complex tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with data visualization tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
