This position is 28 hours per week and will include a mix of day, evening, and weekend hours. While this candidate may work in either the children's or teen departments, they will typically be stationed in the Teens Department.

Successful candidates for this position are team players, adaptable, and passionate advocates for the library's role in serving youth, families, and caregivers in our community.

Essential Functions

    • Staffs Children and Teens public service points.
    • Provides information and answers inquiries regarding library activities, facilities, and services.
    • Answers library services inquiries via telephone, email, in person, and in any other manner deemed appropriate by the Library.
    • Assists with the use of library resources such as books and other library materials, computers, mobile devices, printing, computer reservations, the online public access catalog, library databases, and other electronic resources, patron library accounts, etc.
    • Monitors patrons in the Library and reminds them of Library policies, as required, to ensure the resources are fully accessible to all customers.
    • Maintains Children and Teens spaces within the department, ensuring they are neat, clean, safe, and in an organized manner.
    • Assists with the process of handling damaged items.
    • Performs other clerical duties, as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned and required.
    • Supports the overall mission of the Library by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with patrons and staff. 


Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • One (1) year of customer service OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

    • Starting pay is $13.77 per hour and up based on related and comparable work experience

Physical Demands

    • Mobility to work in an office setting, use standard office equipment and stamina to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds and push carts that may weigh up to 100 pounds; agility to bend, reach and climb; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
