Located in the heart of Downtown Fort Wayne, the Main Library Children’s Services Department is a destination for children and their grown-ups. With a 2,000-square-foot StoryScape imaginative play center, bubbling saltwater and freshwater tanks, an impressive Reading Tower, and even a 250-seat theater, our library space encourages children to discover and explore.  Our robust collection of materials, vibrant programming, and well-established community partnerships reflect the diversity of the community we serve.

The successful candidate will be an energetic, team player who is a passionate advocate for the library’s role in serving children, families, and caregivers in our community. At ACPL, a Senior Children's Librarian provides a broad range of professional librarian services in support of children's reader's advisory, reference, activities, and programs.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, and will be required to work a mix of day, evening, and weekend hours.

Requirements

    • Master’s Degree in Library Science
    • One (1) year of library operations experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience 
    • State of Indiana Public Librarian Certification
    • Valid Driver's License

Compensation & Benefits

    • Compensation expected to be $46K - $55K per year and up based on previous related and comparable experience
