THE ROLE
Reporting to the SVP of Engineering, the Senior Director, Product Management will serve as the product visionary and will be responsible for leading the product management function at Actian and executing Actian’s product portfolio strategy. This collaborative leader will partner with functional teams across the organization to increase revenue through driving innovative solutions to existing and new markets.
The Product Management team is core to Actian’s future growth and success. This person must have a good understanding of the cloud data platform space with an ability to identify and translate market trends and customer needs into a product strategy that ensures business growth and revenue goals are achieved. This leader will be accountable for the full lifecycle of new and existing products that will help deliver Actian’s vision to be the most trusted, flexible, and easy to use data platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Product Strategy: Working closely with the SVP Engineering and the Leadership Team, the Senior Director, Product Management will develop Actian’s product strategy and vision, and collaborate closely with the VP of Customer Experience on all aspects of the end-to-end customer experience. This successful leader will translate the product strategy and vision into action by leading and executing business case development, product-market fit, product differentiation, and go to market launch. The Senior Director, Product Management will prioritize the needs of all stakeholders, manage change, and focus the product roadmaps.
- Drive Growth and Adoption: The Senior Director, Product Management will develop and prioritize the product portfolio and roadmap using a data-driven approach to exceed business financial goals and deliver the highest return on investment to accelerate growth. This leader will partner closely with the SVP of Engineering to optimize the cross-portfolio product development process. The Senior Director, Product Management will oversee the development of business requirements for new product features and enhancements, by leveraging market, product and customer data.
- Develop and Lead High Performing Team: Attracting and retaining top talent is critical to success in this role. The Senior Director, Product Management, will lead and develop a team of seasoned Product Managers, while driving a results-oriented and collaborative culture.
- Develop product development timelines with Engineering Leadership and clearly communicate them with a no-surprises philosophy.
- Support sales activities to ensure that product strategy and investments optimize sales success. Continuously communicate with Sales to obtain product feedback for future business requirements and product strategy.
- Partner with Marketing to co-create go-to-market strategies to serve customers and differentiate us from competitors.
- Work closely with engineering leadership to coordinate the development and drive product design in alignment with major trends.
- Integrate analytics, user research, market analysis, and community feedback into clear use cases, product requirements and user stories.
Professional Experience and Qualifications
- 10+ years B2B enterprise SW product leadership roles developing and delivering on value-driven products and features in the Data ecosystem (Data Quality, Data Integration, Data Management, Data Governance, Data Analytics)
- Significant and demonstrable experience designing, deploying and scaling critical enterprise infrastructure SaaS solutions into the market.
- Proven ability to utilize analytics, product metrics, customer and user experience research, competitive and market analysis, and company goals to drive prioritization of product initiatives.
- Ability to assess customer needs and “pain points”; build products, tools, and technology to address and resolve the problem.
- Creativity and knowledge in all areas of product management including the ability to conceptualize, develop, and implement innovative features and solutions.
- Track record of on-time delivery of products that meet or exceed financial goals.
- Experienced with the agile development process grounded in metrics and user data.
- Experience with B2B subscription models.
- Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top talent.
- Strong analytical skills as well as good written communication skills.
- Comfortable and confident presenter.
- Excellent soft-skills and a collaborative attitude.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree desirable.
