Internship Overview 
We are looking for interns to join us for our 2024Summer Internship Program! What It’s Like Interning with Us! 
Weekly Events— just because the internship is remote, doesn’t mean we don’t have time for fun! Last summer, we hosted an Actian tie-dye shirt event, tiny camp fire—complete with smores(!!!), a murder mystery party, and so much more Time with Executives— Interns all get a chance to connect with our executive team through panel discussions, 1:1s, Q&A meetings, and events Workshops & Tech Tuesday’s— Interns all participate in Tech Tuesday’s where they get to learn more about Actian specific technologies, as well as workshops geared towards new professionals Opportunity to travel – we will be hosting a hybrid orientation! For those that are interested in being in person for orientation, we will fly you to our Austin, TX office.  

Position Overview 
The Employee Experience Intern will have a hands-on opportunity to impactLearning and Development, EDIB, Employee Engagement, and more. The Employee Experience Team is responsible for enabling our people to do their best work by cultivating experiences that are flexible, unique, and meaningful for everyone at every stage of their journey with Actian. For their capstone project, this intern will contribute to our learning, development, and enablement program, Actian EDGE. 
 
This project will help change the face of how we approach the entry of Learning and Development here at Actian, as you will be focused on assisting the Employee Experience team with the implementation of a new onboarding program for our engineering, support and managed services department, which makes up approximately 80% of our workforce. 
 
This intern will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of training programs specifically tailored to accommodate diverse learning styles and neurodiverse perspectives. If you are passionate about employee experience, have an aptitude for technology, and are looking to build your skills as a People Professional in modern and progressive ways, this role is for you! 
 
Capstone Overview 
In today's dynamic business landscape, the onboarding process for new employees plays a pivotal role in shaping their success within an organization. The aim of this capstone project is to design and implement comprehensive training modules tailored specifically for first-year engineering, support and managed services employees. Focusing on content creation, process optimization, continuous learning opportunities, and moments of engagement, these modules will not only accelerate the integration of new hires but also foster a culture of growth and development within the organization. 

Responsibilities:

    • Process Analysis: Conduct a thorough assessment of the current onboarding process, identifying pain points and areas for improvement. Utilize process mapping and stakeholder feedback to redesign the onboarding experience, with a focus on efficiency and alignment with organizational goals 
    • Content Development: Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop engaging and informative training materials. Leverage multimedia formats, such as videos, interactive quizzes, and case studies, to cater to diverse learning styles and preferences 
    • Engagement Strategies: Implement a variety of engagement strategies, including gamification elements, group projects, and peer-to-peer learning sessions, to foster a sense of belonging and motivation among new hires. Monitor engagement metrics and iterate strategies based on feedback and performance data 
    • EDIB Integration: Embed Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) principles into the onboarding journey. Apply an intersectional and neurodiverse lens to all aspects of the program, from content creation to delivery methods, ensuring inclusivity and understanding among new hires 

Nice to Have:

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Instructional Design, Industrial Organization Psychology, or Human Resources Management 
    • Interested in candidates with strong passion for engineering (Ex. double major in computer science, changed major, minor in computer science, went to STEM Magnet high school, or participated in extracurriculars related to STEM with well-known organizations such as Girls Who Code) 
    • Dedication to advancing Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB) and improving accessibility within the workforce 
    • Portfolio highlighting experience building visually appealing and engaging learning content (we do not want this to be a barrier for entry to this position. If you do not have a portfolio readily available, please be prepared to showcase 2-3 slide decks upon request) 
    • Proficient in project management, adept at overseeing and prioritizing multiple initiatives successfully 

Requirements:

    • Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program 
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States 
$20 - $30 an hour
