Internship Overview
We are looking for interns to join us for our 2024Summer Internship Program! What It’s Like Interning with Us!
Weekly Events— just because the internship is remote, doesn’t mean we don’t have time for fun! Last summer, we hosted an Actian tie-dye shirt event, tiny camp fire—complete with smores(!!!), a murder mystery party, and so much more Time with Executives— Interns all get a chance to connect with our executive team through panel discussions, 1:1s, Q&A meetings, and events Workshops & Tech Tuesday’s— Interns all participate in Tech Tuesday’s where they get to learn more about Actian specific technologies, as well as workshops geared towards new professionals Opportunity to travel – we will be hosting a hybrid orientation! For those that are interested in being in person for orientation, we will fly you to our Austin, TX office.
Position Overview
Come join us Actian’s Zen Engineering Team! The Zen family of databases are ideally suited to applications that run in branch offices or on edge devices where zero administration and small footprint requirements are common. For the capstone project, the Hardware Developer Intern will build a smart building demo. This Intern will use an existing smart building demo as an example and build an enhanced version.
Capstone Overview
The Zen Hardware Developer Intern will be tasked with creating a smart building demonstration that includes essential building functionalities such as doors, elevators, ventilation systems, lighting, and more. This demonstration project will utilize Actian Zen as the edge database for storing and managing data, which will be leveraged for machine learning purposes. This intern will partner with the Zen Software Developer Intern who will be focused on generating simulation data for machine learning purposes and developing a user-friendly GUI for building operation and a dashboard for presenting data.
Responsibilities
- Using 3D printing, build a building similar to the current smart building
- Add functional features of building like doors, elevator, fan system, lighting etc.
- Stretch goal is to add automation of these functional features.
Nice to Have
- Pursuing mechanical engineering degree
- Experience in or knowledge of using Arduino devices
- Experience in or knowledge of 3D printing or metal work
Requirements
- Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
$20 - $30 an hour
