ActiveCampaign is looking for a Director of Payments to lead the development of our payments strategy, establish operational processes, and build a dedicated payments function at the Company. This role requires an individual who can "wear many hats," owning global payments strategy, operations, reporting, and analytics, and cross-team communication. The ideal candidate will have experience optimizing payment operations, fostering cross-functional collaboration, and managing relationships with payment providers. In addition to delivering operational excellence and implementing best practices, the Director of Payments will be responsible for scaling and growing the scope of the Payments function as needed.
What your day could consist of:

- Cultivate strong cross-functional relationships to align payment strategies with organizational objectives.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and financial projections for payment processing. Monitor expenses, analyze variances, and recommend cost-saving measures as appropriate.
- Optimize ActiveCampaign’s internal data structure for payments performance analyses by collaborating with BI resources. Build and monitor alert systems using internal and/or third-party data analytics resources to ensure consistent tracking. Monitor and track core payments and risk-related KPIs using available reporting from PSPs.
- Act as ActiveCampaign’s internal expert and champion for payment functionality, strategies, and methods, globally and domestically.
- Actively build, develop, and manage relationships with external payment partners to maximize performance.
- Create internal communications to keep company-wide stakeholders informed of changing regulations, card scheme rules, and emerging payments issues that could affect the payment acceptance strategy. Cultivate an environment of ongoing education and growth throughout the company.
What is needed:
- At least 8-10 years of progressive experience in payments and risk management, preferably within the e-commerce, subscription, or fintech industry.
- Proven track record of leadership and success in developing and implementing payment strategies, risk management practices, and operational efficiencies.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex payment issues, evaluate options, and make data-driven decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex payment concepts and strategies to diverse audiences.
- Experience building and nurturing relationships with payment partners and industry groups.
