About the team

ScriptRunner is an Add-on that helps users solve the challenges that they face every day in JIRA, CONFLUENCE and BITBUCKET by writing groovy scripts. It automates bulk actions, creates scripted fields, and helps develop distinct workflows. We have a team of 40 specialist supporting and growing the Scriptrunner products.

About the role

The role of a software engineer will help to shape and deliver on our dev-tools product roadmap. This position will work alongside engineering colleagues, your team lead, product manager, QA, documentation and support.
This person will work as part of the wider Scriptrunner on-prem team (19 engineers across 4 products) with whom we share a code base, several agile ceremonies as well as social and networking activities. Dev-tools focus mainly on the Scriptrunner for Bitbucket application.
They will work on new feature development, bug fixes, support issues and help refine product backlog. The back-end code is Groovy based, (if you know Java you know Groovy). The front-end code is Typescript / React. This is mainly a back-end role but anyone who is also interested in front-end or full-stack development would be very welcome.

What you'll be doing

- Designing, writing and testing code
- Participate in peer reviews
- Writing automated tests at unit, integration and functional levels and manage code quality within the team
- Troubleshooting builds and deployments
- Assisting with support escalations

What we're looking for

- Strong software development skills in one backend technology (Java, Groovy)
- Experience working in a team environment
- Experience of agile methodologies
- Knowledge of working in CI environment
- Understanding service oriented architecture with extensible APIs
- Knowledge and interest in source code management with GIT
