When you join Adaptavist’s data engineering team, you’ll be joining a group of fun, collaborative and exciting professionals! This talented and welcoming team has been growing over the years and is continuing to grow this year, with expertise spanning platform engineers, software engineers and data engineers. At the moment, some of the team are based around the UK, Canada and in Malaysia!

This role is pivotal to the growth of the organisation, and you will work closely with our Analytics, Data Science, Product and Platform teams. We have team members across the globe so you will be working remotely!

Working closely with various teams across the company, the successful candidate will be responsible for growing Adaptavist’s data processing implementations. This involves working with different types of data sources each with different considerations - logs/events/metrics. The infrastructure and the software that sit behind all this is built and managed by the data engineering team. Using modern technologies (Serverless, AWS, S3, Kinesis, SQS) and languages such as Java and Python, our Data Engineering team are focused on building a best-in-class implementations to ensure the continued growth of Adaptavist. Our Data Engineers own these implementations from gathering the data from the producers through to the consumers, ensuring that data flows to the right team, at the right time. We build solutions to work reliability and alert us when they don't. 

Our Data Engineer teams build on modern development practices, so comfort with continuous delivery and deployment infrastructure such as code (Terraform), and agile experience are a must. The team values the autonomy that modern development teams thrive in, and give teams the space to build and grow in their own ways.

- Proven experience in the field of Data Engineering or Software Engineering

- Experience with Java (and common frameworks like Spring and Spring boot) or strong Python experience.

- Passion for delivering large-scale Data Pipelines solutions

- AWS Experience (we use S3, Lambda, Kinesis, SQS, and more)

- Experience with modern development tooling like git and CI/CD

- Experience with both batch processing and streaming architectures

- Experience working with event driven architectures is an added advantage
