At its core, Addepar is a data company. We collect position, transaction and security information from nearly 100 custodial banks, as well as market data from many well known data providers. Addepar has built an ETL pipeline to integrate all of this data and ship it to clients on a daily basis. The Data Engineering group at Addepar focuses on the systems and processes that make up this pipeline.

An ETL Engineer in Addepar’s Data Engineering team is excited to tackle urgent, mission critical engineering work. ETL Engineers primarily focus on the the business logic that integrates financial data from the outside world onto Addepar’s unified platform. As the number of integration points we have grows, so does the difficulty of this problem. An ETL Engineer must balance tactical work across all of Addepar’s integration points with the overall reliability, scale and maintainability of Addepar’s data pipeline. Responsibilities include early morning tactical engineering support balanced with building new integration points and owning strategic projects that are part of Addepar’s data pipeline.

ETL Engineers regularly interface with both business and engineering team members within Addepar. So excellent communication and teamwork skills are critical to success in the role. Prioritization skills and the ability to carry multiple projects concurrently are also must haves. A strong grounding in software engineering principles and building maintainable systems is critical for ETL Engineers who must execute on time critical tradeoffs every day. Finally as ETL Engineers are on the front line of integrating financial data onto Addepar’s platform, previous experience in and a passion for financial data problems is key to a rewarding career in this role.
