We are looking for a leader for the accounting team to drive scalability and operational excellence. The role will lead a growing team of 10+ and is responsible for accounting policy, revenue accounting functions, scaling the accounting function, and close process. The ideal candidate is a team player, talent attractor, a builder, and a mentor, with a track record of scaling the accounting function through fast growth and strong working knowledge of accounting systems, processes, US GAAP, and internal controls.

We have three distinct business models, and are looking to enter new segments and international markets in the next few years.  The ability to partner with the executive staff developing these new businesses, and overseeing the creation of international accounting processes will be critical.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead and mentor a top tier team to support the company’s rapid growth and the career development of team members
    • Responsible for the close process and related reporting, including revenue recognition, general ledger and international reporting
    • Proactively drive efficiency through automation and streamlining accounting processes especially for quote-to-cash
    • Work outside of the box, challenging status-quo when there are areas for improvement and proactively drives a solution
    • Work closely with the technical accounting team to drive implementation of new accounting standards
    • Partner with implementation, compliance & deal desk teams to ensure smooth customer experience
    • Manage the relationship with external auditors, provide pragmatic solutions and alternatives to challenging audit requests and inquiries
    • Collaborate with stakeholders in and outside of finance to build scalable processes to support growth
    • Benchmark and coordinate with industry peers on best practices related to accounting, systems, policies, and processes
    • Participate in key strategic initiatives and assist with other ad hoc projects
    • Interact with senior executives and board regarding financial matters as needed


    • 5+ years as Controller or Asst Controller in a SaaS or subscription software business
    • 5+ years experience in an accounting leadership role with 3+ business models
    • 3+ years as a manager of direct reports at multiple sites and countries
    • Experience leading the interaction and relationship with audit firm
    • Experience starting & running international accounting activities in EMEA and Asia
    • Experience implementing / running a 1-day close process
    • Experience implementing new tools, processes, and business models
    • Experience with SEC and/or FINRA filings

Qualifications and Education

    • 10+ years of relevant work experience driving the corporate accounting policies and processes
    • Proven record of mentoring and developing high performing accounting teams
    • Experience with Salesforce and NetSuite
    • Problem solving and decision making capacity in a high growth environment
    • Passionate and persistence about operational excellence and customer experience
    • US public company experience (preferred)
    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required (active or inactive status)
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
    • SaaS or Software Company revenue experience (must)
    • Experience in leading successful system implementations for growth and scalability
    • Strong technical accounting background with thorough knowledge of US GAAP  reporting standards
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines
    • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization, from clerical staff to executives, and manage relationships with external parties
