The Role
We're seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer who can hit the ground running and drive end-to-end solutions independently. You'll have the autonomy to make architectural decisions, own major features from conception to deployment, and work directly with our founding team to shape the technical direction of our platform.
This isn't just another backend role—you'll be working with AI tools every day, learning how to integrate AI into products that users can actually use, and solving novel problems that push the boundaries of what's possible.

Key Responsibilities
- Architect and build robust backend systems that can scale as we grow rapidly
- Work end-to-end on features, from database design to API implementation to deployment
- Make independent technical decisions with significant autonomy over your work
- Own the full problem - take initiative to identify bottlenecks, technical debt, or process inefficiencies and drive solutions without waiting for direction
- Build with speed and precision - rapidly prototype and iterate on new features while maintaining code quality and system reliability
- Mentor and collaborate with other engineers as we scale the team
- Champion best practices - establish coding standards, testing frameworks, and deployment processes that enable the team to move faster as we grow
- Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience with a track record of shipping services to production at scale
- Previous startup experience or genuine excitement about the startup environment - you thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving situations where you wear multiple hats
- Proven ability to solve complex scalability challenges and design systems that can grow 10x without major rewrites
- Strong proficiency in one or more BE programming languages (we currently use Python)
- Familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code
- Low ego, high empathy, and excellent collaboration skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, high-growth environment where priorities can shift quickly
- Excellent communication skills - share progress, blockers, and insights transparently with the team, ensuring everyone stays aligned and can help when needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AI/ML systems, APIs, or data pipelines
- Understanding of LLMs or ML infrastructure
- Experience working with advertising data or in AdTech companies

$140,000 - $160,000 a year
