Adventus is looking for a seasoned and proven ICT professional to join the family. As the Country Manager for Japan, you will be directly responsible for overseeing the local operations.

This includes managing the local team, ensuring the efficient use of technology to meet business objectives, and ensuring smooth operations of all IT infrastructure, systems, and services. The role involves both strategic planning and hands-on execution to maintain and improve the business landscape.

The ideal candidate should possess vast experience and in-depth knowledge of the local Japanese ICT industry, bringing with him/her valuable contacts. Fluent in Japanese and possessing business proficiency in English, he/she should have an established track record in leading successful sales teams whilst also possessing exemplary leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

    • Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop and implement a country-specific strategy that is aligned and complementary with the company’s overall business goals.
    • Ensure technology strategies are optimized for local market needs and regulatory requirements.
    • Advisory duties to the senior management team with regards to technological trends and innovations relevant to the business in the country.

    • Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of ICT professionals, ensuring clear objectives, performance metrics, and development opportunities.
    • Work together with cross-functional teams, including HR, Finance, and Operations, to ensure initiatives align with broader company strategies.

    • IT Infrastructure Management:
    • Oversee the management of the company’s IT infrastructure, including data centres, networks, servers, and cloud services.
    • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

    • Project Management:
    • Be kept in the loop for existing projects and those in the pipelines, ensuring that timely delivery, budget, and quality standards are met.
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

    • Budget and Cost Management:
    • Direct accountability for the local P&L of the country’s operations.
    • Develop and manage the local budget for the country, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost control.
    • Review and approve procurement for ICT-related services, software, and hardware.

    • Compliance and Security:
    • Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations relating to ICT, including data protection and cybersecurity.
    • Implement and monitor ICT security measures to protect company data and systems from threats.

    • Vendor and Stakeholder Management:
    • Manage relationships with local and global ICT vendors, contractors, and service providers.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure that services and products meet the required quality and compliance standards.

    • Support and Troubleshooting:
    • Provide leadership in resolving complex ICT issues.
    • Oversee the ICT support team, ensuring they provide timely and effective support to users.

    • Reporting and Performance Metrics:
    • Regularly report on ICT performance, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
    • Measure and analyze the performance of ICT services and systems.

Requirements

    • Skills and Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Minimally 7 years of relevant ICT industry experience
    • Advantageous to possess leadership or managerial experience, however, not required
    • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, networks, security protocols, and cloud computing.
    • Proven track record of sales records and/or managing successful sales teams.
    • Advantageous to possess prior experience managing P&L, however, not required
    • Experience managing large-scale ICT projects and budgets.
    • Experience in vendor management and negotiations.
    • Familiarity with local ICT regulations and compliance standards.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to solve complex technical problems and manage cross-functional teams.
