Adverum is looking for a Director/Senior Medical Affairs, to join our team in our Redwood City office. This person will be working with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, and other cross functional teams to identify and continually improve external processes/strategic goals of our Medical Affairs programs.  The Director/Senior Medical Affairs will be responsible for the alignment of internal stakeholders (Therapeutic Heads/MSLs) on a holistic engagement strategy plus executing the development of relationships within the Medical Expert community.  

What you'll do:

    • Lead for medical external strategy and execution to Centers of Excellence & Medical Experts
    • Develop/Execute executive (CEO & Global Leadership Team) presentations and project updates to reflect progress against objectives
    • Develop and execute field medical strategy for stakeholder relations and engagement, dissemination of education and medical/scientific information
    • Provide support as needed to Market Access to ensure successful engagement and education of public and commercial managed market stakeholders
    • Serve on cross-functional teams as Medical Affairs representative and scientific expert; participate in cross-functional teams with the goal of developing and implementing integrated medical and commercial strategies
    • Establish and nurture strategic alliances and partnerships as needed with internal and external stakeholders to include advocacy groups and congress leaderships
    • Manage educational tactics in partnership with external vendors and/or stakeholders (i.e. grants, CME and IIS)
    • Collaborate with and provide scientific and clinical support and training for internal departments which may include Medical Science Liaisons, Clinical Operations, Research, Legal/Policy, and Investor Relations
    • Support high-quality execution of corporate-wide initiatives and achievement of scientific/medical strategies

About you:

    • A bachelor’s degree in business, economics, science, or a related area is required.
    • Advanced degree desirable (e.g., MPH, MBA, PhD, PharmD)
    • 8-10+ years in pharma or biotech industry (Gene or Cell Therapy), including at least 5 years leading a Medical Affairs organization (Ophthalmology experience preferred)
    • Expertise in the US market access environment (e.g., payers, health systems, pharmacies, health policy and reimbursement)
    • Exhibit leadership skills within and outside of the organization (including people skills, mentoring, presentation skills, and professional interaction)
    • Experience in establishing cross-function project management to drive innovation
    • US market access launch experience preferred
$225,560 - $240,542 a year
The salary range for this position is $225,560 USD to $240,542 USD annually, with the opportunity to earn an annual bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, including education, length of experience, location, and market data.  Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the applicable Company equity incentive award plan. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.  Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD, life and accident insurance, and either paid time off or flexible paid time off.
