Adverum is looking for a highly motivated AAV Vector Production Research Associate/Associate Scientist to join our Research team at our Redwood City, CA office. The successful candidate will play a critical role in planning and executing the production of AAV viral vectors and their application to Adverum’s gene therapy pipeline of products. The incumbent will be responsible for manufacturing, purification and chracterization of research grade recombinant Adeno Associated Virus (rAAV).

This is a contract opportunity - 6 month to start.

What you'll do:

    • Plan and execute the production of rAAV vectors in shake flasks and bench top bioreactors to expand Adverum’s gene therapy product pipeline.
    • Maintain accurate experimental records with little supervision.
    • Analyze, interpret and present data within functional group environment.
    • Perform molecular biology and analytical assays.
    • Draft, edit and finalize technical documents following templates with minimal supervision.
    • Perform literature searches to gain ideas for incorporation into process optimization.
    • Collaborate with other departments (Pre-Clinical, Process Development, Analytical Development etc) to achieve shared objectives.
    • Ensure safe workplace in compliance with the company and EHS rules and regulations.

About you:

    • PhD’s/Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, chemical/biochemical engineering or related field and 2+ years relevant biotechnology industry experience.
    • Knowledge of mammalian cell culture and AAV Production in an industry setting.
    • Hands-on experience working with mammalian suspension cell cultures and aseptic techniques.
    • Hands-on experience with density gradient purification.
    • Hands-on experience with column chromatography purification is desirable but not required.
    • Hands-on experience with different molecular biology tools used to characterize AAV vectors (such as ddPCR, qPCR, alkaline gel, Western blot).
    • Experience drafting technical protocols/reports.
    • Familiarity with bench-scale bioreactor operations is desirable but not required.
    • Excellent organizational and collaborative skills, with the ability to design and troubleshoot experiments with minimal supervision or as part of a group.
    • Highly motivated team player with an ability to be productive and a willingness to learn in a fluid, fast-paced and environment is essential.
$50 - $70 an hour
This hourly range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, including education, length of experience, and market data.
