The Senior Manager/Associate Director of Business Development will be a key contributor to the organization.  This individual will provide strong business leadership in assessing and guiding the long-range strategic direction through acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and licensing agreements. This position will be accountable for identifying, investigating, and analyzing potential strategic partners, as well as new business development opportunities. The ideal candidate will structure terms, support the negotiation of definitive agreements, and act as a point of contact between external partners and internal departments in the various phases of business development activities.

What you'll do:

    • Identify and help negotiate out-licenses, partner collaborations, and other related transactions that enable and accelerate Adverum’s objectives.
    • Assist with the identification and negotiation of in-licenses and research collaborations that enable and accelerate Adverum’s objectives.
    • Lead the screening, evaluation, and assessment of possible targets and assets for business development and licensing opportunities.
    • Conduct active outreach to prospective strategic partners, building long-term relationships.
    • Develop business plans and related project plans with milestones for new business development and licensing opportunities.
    • Lead projects and due diligence on targets and opportunities, including data room organization and management.
    • Assist the development of transaction strategy, tactics, and contract negotiation.
    • Analyze and propose term structures working closely with Finance, Legal, R&D, and other stakeholders.
    • Lead financial modeling, valuation analysis, and development of partnering materials.
    • Actively manage alliances, partnerships, and collaborations to support the delivery of business objectives.
    • Act as point of contact between external partners and internal departments in the various phases of business development activities.

About you:

    • MBA, PhD in life science field, or MD desirable.
    • At least 5-7 years in business development, consulting, investment banking, or similar role.
    • At least 4 years in life sciences industry, demonstrating strong scientific and business development acumen.
$163,700 - $195,000 a year
The salary range for this position is $163,700 USD to $195,000 USD annually, with the opportunity to earn an annual bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, including education, length of experience, location, and market data.  Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the applicable Company equity incentive award plan. The amount of incentive varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the plan.  Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, STD/LTD, life and accident insurance, and either paid time off or flexible paid time off.
