Here's the Deal
As the Flight Dynamics Senior Engineer, you will report to the Flight Control Systems (FCS) IPT Lead and be responsible for building a high-fidelity aircraft dynamics simulation in support of flight control development. You will also provide detailed stability and control and handling qualities analysis and input to the design of the AS2 supersonic business jet.

On any given day you might:

    • Process aerodynamic databases needed for Stability and Control
    • Develop 6-DOF simulations in Matlab/Simulink and support of piloted simulations
    • Independently address stability and control related issues throughout the vehicle design and test process
    • Support development of aircraft flight control laws
    • Develop requirements for aerodynamic data and associated testing
    • Provide inputs to developmental and FAA-approved flight manuals including normal handling characteristics and abnormal/emergency procedures
    • Support flight control, and stability and control flight testing
    • Develop requirements for stability and control sizing for air vehicles
    • Perform the design and analysis of control surfaces and overall vehicle dynamics
    • Support the FCS development of control architecture for aircraft
    • Develop aircraft stability and control requirements that are compatible with overall system requirements under civil certification standards (FAR25/CS25)
    • Perform handling qualities analysis
    • Design stability and control for failure mitigation and off-design operations

We're looking for someone who has:

    • A BS in Aeronautics or Aerospace Engineering with more than 15 years of experience (or MS in engineering plus 8 years of experience)
    • Experience with the latest industry-standard stability and control and aerodynamic design and analysis tools such as Matlab/Simulink and other aerodynamic design and analysis tools
    • Experience working with CFD and wind tunnel experts to generate data required for aerodynamic modeling, and stability and control analyses
    • Prior experience performing trade studies related to stability and control including using numerical tools as well as wind tunnel data
    • Experience in the creation of aerodynamic stability and control databases and building high fidelity 6-DOF aircraft simulations in Matlab/Simulink
    • Knowledge of, and experience with, FAA FAR 25 and EASA CS 25 stability and control regulatory requirements and means of compliance
    • Experience with flight and wind tunnel test monitoring and data reduction to support stability and control analysis and certification efforts
    • Experience in generating documentation to support certification efforts
