Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based services and applications for IoT solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate IoT devices with cloud platforms.
- Implement scalable and secure cloud architectures that handle large volumes of data and real-time processing.
- Optimize cloud services for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Develop and maintain APIs for device communication and data exchange.
- Ensure data security and privacy by implementing best practices and compliance standards.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to cloud services and infrastructure.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in cloud computing and IoT.
- Some on-call required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on cloud services and IoT.
- Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Google Cloud (preferred), AWS, Azure.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java (required).
- Experience with IoT protocols (e.g., MQTT, CoAP) and edge computing.
- Working knowledge of microservices architecture using Spring Boot and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (CI/CD, automation, monitoring).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- This role is available in California, Massachusetts, Georgia, and Utah. Ability to work onsite in Los Altos CA several times per month is preferred.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. or eligible for H-1B visa transfer.
$250,000 - $325,000 a year
The US base salary range for this full-time position is expected to be $250,000 - $325,000. Actual pay is determined by a range of factors including work location, job-related skills and experience, relevant education, training or certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At Afero it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This range reflects base salary only; Afero also offers competitive benefits and equity compensation which are not included in these numbers.
