Job Title: Developer I

The Marine Forces Reserve is a three-star General level command responsible for training and equipping approximately 160 geographically dispersed Marine Reserve units across the United States to augment and reinforce active Marine forces in time of war, national emergency or contingency operations, provide personnel and operational tempo relief for the active forces in peacetime, and provide service to the community. The geographical disbursement of Marine Forces Reserve units requires significant investment in Command and Control IT solutions. The IT services identified in this PWS are critical to maintaining, sustaining, and evolving the Command and Control platforms for the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve.
As a Power BI Developer, you will work closely with our data analysts and platform leads to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI. You will be responsible for turning complex data sets into user-friendly visualizations that enable data-driven decision-making across the organization.

·       Data Analysis and Transformation: Collaborate with data analysts to understand data requirements, clean and transform data as needed, and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
·       Dashboard Development: Design and develop interactive and visually appealing dashboards and reports using Power BI to present data insights to stakeholders.
·       Data Visualization: Create compelling data visualizations, including charts, graphs, and interactive features, to effectively communicate complex information.
·       Data Integration: Integrate data from various sources into Power BI, including databases, spreadsheets, and cloud services.
·       Performance Optimization: Optimize the performance of Power BI reports and dashboards to ensure fast and efficient data retrieval and rendering.
·       Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, business stakeholders, and IT teams, to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
·       Documentation: Maintain documentation of data sources, data models, and report development processes.
·       Training and Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices through continuous learning and training.


Required Certifications
·       DoD IAT Level II Certification.

Education, Background, and Years of Experience
·       At least 1 year experience with Power BI Service.


Required Skills
·       Strong knowledge of data visualization principles and best practices
·       Proficiency with visualizing data in Microsoft Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service
·       Intermediate or better proficiency in DAX
·       Working knowledge of Power Query
·       Experience building reports, dashboards, and data flows
·       Basic understanding of SQL for data querying and manipulation
·       Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
·       Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
·       Effective communication and teamwork skills
·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
·       Eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic data analytics field

Preferred Skills
·       Experience with data modeling, star schemas, and ETL processes
·       Familiarity with data warehousing concepts
·       Basic understanding of data security and data governance practices
·       Experience with Power App development or integration


Environmental Conditions
·       Sedentary- general office environment.  Ability to work from home, but must be able to go to a Marine Forces Reserve base as work needs require.  Occasional travel to New Orleans or other CONUS USMC locations may be required.

Strength Demands
·       Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles.  Some occasional walking or standing may be required.   Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
