About Us

Agtonomy brings intelligent automation to agriculture, turf, and other demanding industries through Physical AI and software services. By partnering with trusted equipment manufacturers, we deliver factory-fit technology that transforms industrial machines into smart, efficient solutions built for safety and performance. Our team combines expertise in technology, product development, and industry knowledge to address critical challenges like labor shortages, sustainability, and productivity. We’re looking for people who want to work in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where their ideas can make a real impact.

About the Role

Join our dynamic team as we push the boundaries of robotics and autonomy technology in Agriculture. As part of the Software Services Team, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and scaling our cloud services, including robust APIs, efficient data processing pipelines, reliable messaging systems, and scalable data storage. These critical systems enable seamless and reliable connectivity between fleets of autonomous vehicles, operators, and user applications, facilitating the management and execution of autonomous operations in agriculture.

What You'll Do

    • Lead the design and development of scalable APIs to support new features and functionality for end-user applications and autonomous vehicles.
    • Write clean, well-structured, and maintainable code that adheres to industry best practices and high-quality standards.
    • Architect and implement comprehensive testing strategies to ensure correct functionality, performance, and reliability of developed features.
    • Collaborate extensively with cross-functional engineering teams, product managers, and UX designers to develop and evolve systems that meet growing and changing business needs.
    • Drive the development process by writing and presenting RFCs for new product features and system enhancements.
    • Take full ownership of projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality, impactful work.
    • Mentor junior engineers on best practices for software development, system design, and testing, fostering a culture of technical excellence.

What You'll Bring

    • Solid experience as a backend developer, showcasing a deep understanding of distributed system design, data structures, and algorithms.
    • 6+ years of experience building highly scalable and resilient web services.
    • Expertise with Node.js, Go and hands-on experience with serverless services (Lambda, Fargate, SNS, API Gateway, etc.), relational databases (PostgreSQL), NoSQL databases (DynamoDB, Redis), containerization technologies (Docker, EKS, OrbStack, etc.), infrastructure as code (Cloud Formation, Terraform, Pulumi), and distributed storage (S3, CloudFront). Experience with real-time communication protocols (WebSockets) is a plus.
    • Extensive experience with gRPC and Protobuf for high-performance inter-service communication.
    • Strong experience with authorization and authentication mechanisms, including AuthZ, AuthN, AWS Cognito, and SSO.
    • Proven experience with building complex data pipelines and workflow automations using tools like GitHub Actions, AWS Step Functions, or similar.
    • A strong desire to continuously learn new technologies and expand your technical scope in a fast-moving startup environment.

What Makes You a Strong Fit

    • Deep expertise in AWS services and a comprehensive understanding of best practices for various service needs, including cost optimization, security, and reliability.
    • Demonstrated experience building and shipping highly available and scalable APIs in a production environment.
    • Proven experience as a technical lead in a fast-paced team focused on building backend services, guiding technical direction and mentorship.
    • A genuine interest in robotics and a willingness to be a part of the transformation of a newly emerging industry of autonomous agricultural vehicles.
