About the Team:
The Sensor Fusion Team develops the algorithms and writes the software that senses the world around our self-driving cars and enables the prediction of what it will look like in the seconds ahead. The team extensively uses Artificial Intelligence techniques like Deep Learning, as well as our own in-house software to process camera pixels, Lidar point clouds and radar echoes to model the vehicle’s environment and detect vehicles, pedestrians and other obstacles.
The Software Engineer - Sensor Fusion is responsible for the design and development of our sensor fusion modules. The tasks for this role include the analysis of sensor properties, their strengths and weaknesses in different environment conditions, sensor performance evaluation and interpretation of sensor data. Based on this, the sensor fusion engineer develops state-of-the-art probabilistic fusion algorithms that fuse multi-modal inputs into a common, singular representation of the perceived environment for the car to act upon. The Sensor Fusion Engineer operates in the heart of the perception team and interfaces tightly with the sensor hardware team, perception algorithm developers and environment model team.
About the role:
The role will focus on the following core areas
State estimation of dynamic and static objects from sensor inputs
Implementation of state-of-the-art, real-time sensor fusion algorithms
Building high-quality, well-tested, and maintainable software
Integration and testing of the software stack in the target vehicle fleet
As an experienced Software Engineer you’ll be able to demonstrate:
• Strong C++ Development skills
• Expert-level know how in Sensor Fusion algorithms (3+years)
• Extensive experience in applied mathematics, numerical linear algebra and statistics
• A Master’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field (Ph.D is a plus)
• Embedded Software Engineering experience is a plus
• Experience in Computer Vision and Robotics are a plus
• Experience with Python / CUDA / Eigen are a plus
