Airbyte is the open-source standard for EL(T). We enable data teams to replicate data from applications, APIs, and databases to data warehouses, lakes, and other destinations. We believe only an open-source approach can solve the problem of data integration, as it enables us to cover the long tail of integrations while enabling teams to adapt pre-built connectors to their needs.

Within just 18 months, we've built 150+ connectors and we've had 9,000+ companies syncing data with us. We've raised $181M from some of the world's top investors (Benchmark, Accel, Altimeter, Coatue, Y Combinator, etc.) and believe in product-led growth, where we build something awesome and let our product bring the users, rather than an outbound sales engine with cold calls.

Airbyte is remote friendly, with most of the team still based in Silicon Valley. We’re fully transparent as a company. Our company handbook, culture & values, strategy and roadmap are open to all.

The Opportunity
As our technical writer, you will report to our head of docs, work closely with our product and engineering leaders with the goal to provide the best developer experience on Airbyte’s documentation, including our API. This is a unique opportunity to build out a world-class documentation visited by thousands of developers every day. You will leverage our active community to assess and improve the documentation, and work closely with the community team to include other engaging formats in the documentation.

What You'll Do

    • Evaluate and improve our existing API and SDK documentation.
    • Write and test new API and SDK reference documentation.
    • Collaborate with engineers and community members to create code samples, getting started guides, detailed how-to guides, and so on.
    • Help define and direct the core experience of documentation for each high-impact persona that engages with it, getting buy-in from product and engineering on the vision.
    • Help build a system to assess and improve the quality of the documentation, through metrics and community involvement.
    • Work with support engineers and customer success managers to help drive customer engagement and adoption, which may include: contributing to Knowledge Base articles, authoring technical blog posts.

What You'll Need

    • 3+ years creating API and SDK reference documentation, tutorials, and how-to guides.
    • Understanding of web development, HTTP request-response methods, JSON.
    • Experience creating basic code examples in one or more programming languages - Java or Python.
    • Familiarity with the OpenAPI and Swagger
    • A demonstrated ability to get stuff done. In an ideal world, you’ve worked in a fast-growing company and know what we should be doing today, in one year, and in two years.
    • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
    • You share our values.
    • Bonus: Exposure to data integration technologies.
