ABOUT AIRGARAGE πŸ™

AirGarage is repurposing the 30% of real estate in the average American city currently dedicated to parking.

We are building a future where real estate is digitized and can be transitioned from one use to another seamlessly on-demand, moving every piece of urban real estate toward its highest and best use.

We are starting with the $131 billion US parking real estate market because it is one of the most offline and mismanaged commercial real estate asset types.

As a full-stack parking operator, we automate the operation of parking lots and parking garages. We handle everything from advertising to collecting payments from drivers and enforcing against illegal parking. We already operate 150+ parking lots and parking garages across 30 US states and we are growing quickly.

We are backed by top tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Floodgate, Founders Fund, and angel investors who have founded or worked at companies like Uber, Opendoor, Flexport, and more.

THE ROLE πŸ‘©πŸΎβ€πŸ’»

We’re looking for a creative, motivated software engineer with strong fundamentals and practical projects to join AirGarage. Our stack is Python, Django, and React, with some React Native and Expo.

As a startup, we have a variety of ever-changing needs, from new product features to upgrading our codebase to experimental projects in computer vision and license plate recognition. You will contribute to the core product, used by thousands of people per month to pay for parking.

WHAT YOU WILL DO πŸ‘·β€β™€οΈ

β€” Work across the full stack, from our Django backend APIs to the React / Redux Frontend to ship impactful products used by thousands of people daily.

β€” Solve a variety of problems, from designing modular components for business logic to scripting, infra deployments, and frontend.

β€” Work with a variety of the most popular and up-and-coming frameworks and technologies, such as Django, React Native, Expo, and some more experimental computer vision libraries.

β€” Serve as a cornerstone member of the AirGarage team and have opportunities to lead projects as we scale the engineering organization.

β€” Ship quickly, but also ensure quality by writing unit and integration tests.

β€” Work on internal tools to automate processes and streamline operations.

β€” Talk with customers, engineers, founders, and product team members to identify and fix paint points while having ownership over the products they use every day.

β€” A variety of things we can’t predict - since we are a startup the role is very dynamic.

WHAT YOU NEED πŸ‘©πŸΌβ€πŸŽ“

β€” Strong knowledge of programming principles and eagerness to learn.

β€” Experience with architectural patterns of complex web applications (e.g., well-designed APIs), modern JavaScript libraries and tooling such as React, Redux, and debugging tools.

β€” Side projects -- we are looking for someone who loves building and demonstrates that by hacking in their free time.

β€” A growth mindset -- you should be a lifelong learner, hungry to learn new technologies, frameworks, and programming languages.

THE UPSIDE πŸ“ˆ

β€” By joining as one of our early team members, there is enormous opportunity ahead for you to have an outsized impact and shape the future of AirGarage in this role.

β€” Competitive salary and benefits including unlimited PTO, health / dental / vision insurance, 401k, and more.

β€” A lot of room to grow -- the engineering team will be orders of magnitude larger within a few years, and you’ll be the foundation of that team.

β€” Work closely with our founders and CTO to drive strategy and execute key initiatives.

β€” The opportunity to change the way that the world thinks about real estate use in our cities.

β€” A diverse team -- we are currently 35%+ female and 30%+ non-white and we hope to continue hiring thoughtfully to build a team that represents the fact that our customers come from all walks of life.

β€” You’ll be joining a sharp, motivated team and have the option to work in an office in San Francisco or work remotely. Our company is remote-first but we know some people thrive in the in-person energy of working in an office.
We understand that there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. We're looking for someone passionate, with grit and determination, who is excited to face the challenges of a rapidly growing startup. AirGarage is the type of company where you can grow exponentially, and we encourage you to apply to us even if you don't 100% match the candidate description.
