We are an early stage startup headquartered in Palo Alto with offices in Toronto and Zurich. We were founded by a team of experts in imaging and veterans in the Silicon Valley startup ecosystem. We are revolutionizing manufacturing automation and are looking for people passionate about sensing and robotics to join in and help us build state of the art vision technologies for integration with robotic systems.




Responsibilities:

    • You will be responsible for setting the technical direction, providing hands-on development and leading the team that designs and implements algorithms for machine vision tasks such as object detection, semantic segmentation, key-point detection, pose estimation. 
    • You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in systems, test/validation,  camera and computational imaging to ensure coordinated development to align on priorities and milestones for successful integration.
    • As an engineering partner, you will collaborate with leaders and other teams to understand and solve customer problems in machine vision. 
    • Build a team of diverse high performing individuals, provide mentorship to the team with technical guidance and career growth opportunities as well as coach members to ensure they accomplish their best work.
    • You lead by example by embracing team differences and diversity while fostering a collaborative, inclusive, encouraging and respectful team environment.
    • You will keep innovating - continuously improving Akasha’s technology in terms of accuracy, applicability, and runtime. 

Requirements:

    • Experience leading projects and setting roadmaps with strict timelines and launching products.
    • Previously led teams of software engineers across a diverse group and skill level. 
    • Extensive knowledge in deep learning, particularly CNNs as used for computer vision. Experience with deploying ML/DL systems in production - you should know what the problems are and how to solve them. 
    • Experience designing large-scale ML systems/pipelines. 
    • Fluency in python, particularly numpy. 
    • Expertise in at least one of Pytorch, Tensorflow, or MxNet. Expertise in speeding up DNN inference is a plus. 
    • Expertise in traditional CV algorithms and 3D geometry is a plus. 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
    • 3+ years of experience managing a ML/DL team with Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.
