Akicita Federal, LLC is seeking dedicated and adventurous Registered Nurses (RNs) to support healthcare services in Peach Springs and Supai, Arizona, including the unique Supai Clinic located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. This role offers a rare opportunity to combine clinical excellence with community service in a truly remarkable environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver high-quality nursing care using a multidisciplinary team approach in Critical Access Hospital, outpatient, and remote clinical settings.
-Administer medications, treatments, and conduct patient education in alignment with medical orders and nursing best practices.
-Manage therapeutic devices, monitor patient vital signs, and assess patient conditions.
-Collaborate with physicians and healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
-Participate in quality control, safety checks, and maintain accurate patient care documentation.
-Respond effectively to emergencies, including life-threatening situations, with appropriate interventions.
Qualifications
-Minimum of two years of nursing experience within the past 36 months.
-Graduate of a National League of Nursing Accredited Nursing Program or equivalent accredited institution.
-Active and unrestricted RN licensure in any U.S. State, District of Columbia, or U.S. Territory.
Current certifications:
-Basic Life Support (BLS)
-Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required due to remote/emergency care setting
-Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required due to pediatric patient population
Work Environment
Supai Clinic:
Shift: 8–10 hours (0800–1700); subject to on-call, callback, and overtime due to the remote location and after-hours emergency needs.
Location: Bottom of the Grand Canyon, Supai, AZ, considered one of the most remote communities in the U.S.
Ambulatory care setting with 5,400+ visits annually and over 1,100 active patients. Staffed with physicians, RNs, and ancillary staff providing primary and urgent care; emergencies requiring advanced resources are transferred via air transport.
Peach Springs & Other Assignments:
May include 12-hour inpatient shifts or 8–10 hour outpatient shifts.
Unique Conditions in Supai:
Transportation: Provided by helicopter through an outside agency; weather and mechanical conditions may affect travel schedules.
Market: Small store for basic necessities and food; limited supplies available, so nurses must pack all necessities and food for their scheduled work period.
Connectivity: Limited cellular service; public Wi-Fi available.
Housing & Accommodations
Supai: Furnished quarters provided, including:
1-bedroom, 1-bath unit with kitchenette (no stove), or
Shared 2-bedroom unit with full kitchen.
Other locations: Accommodations or housing allowance provided by contractor.
