We are seeking a remote-based, bar-raising Platform / API Engineer to help build our edge platform for healthcare computing. In this role you will develop APIs in an edge production environment and design, implement, deploy, debug, and monitor our edge code deployment platform. You will report to Alara’s CTO or Director of Engineering and work on our talented engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Requirements gathering, analysis, design and development of scalable and efficient APIs and integration solutions
- Own and maintain API and SDK documentation
- Participate in strategic API, middle tier and platform architectural and solution decisions
- Ensure API security and authentication mechanisms are robust
- Monitor API performance and troubleshoot issues promptly
- Stay updated on API development trends and emerging technologies
Requirements
- Proven proficiency in designing, developing, maintaining and consuming APIs in production environments
- Expert knowledge in Docker / Containers
- Expert knowledge of REST + JSON
- Expert knowledge in implementation of API authentication mechanisms, including OAuth2 and JWT
- Experience implementing API based documentation standards such as Swagger or RAML
- Strong collaboration skills with both frontend and backend developers to define API requirements
- Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Bash)
- Experience in healthcare technology or SaaS platforms is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with a keen attention to detail
