Alation is looking for a Senior Manager of Documentation to join the Product team in India. In this role, you will be a critical part of the team that builds a world-class self-service experience for Alation customers, where they can easily find information, documentation, learn about our product and get technical answers to all of their product questions.

What you'll be doing:

    • Lead a team of technical writers who develop and continuously improve our public facing technical documentation and own decisions around the assignment of resources
    • Help to shape and deliver documentation and content strategies that drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction 
    • Define metrics that you will use to report on and measure success 
    • Design, document, and implement processes for creating, updating, reusing, and archiving content looking for opportunities to improve efficiency and quality.
    • Collaborate and contribute to the success of Alation external and internal knowledge management initiatives
    • Establish requirements, evaluate options and select an approach and a platform to modernize our current technical documentation system(s)
    • Plan and implement the migration from our current environment to the new one

You should have:

    • BS/BA in Technical Communication, English, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience, with 5+ years of experience writing software documentation for a technical audience.
    • 5+ years experience in enterprise software documentation management and solid understanding of processes at a software company that practices agile methodologies
    • 3+ years of team management experience
    • Ability to determine the mission and vision for documentation, including:
    • Information architecture and integration with other systems (Training, Knowledge base, Community, Developer Portal, Unified Portal)
    • Functionality and user experience on the site
    • Site analytics
    • Experience with multiple content management systems (like MadCap Flare) and approaches to product documentation management
    • High level of creativity, flexibility, and dependability, and the ability to react quickly in a fast-paced environment.
    • Familiarity with the “pull request” process for processing doc requests
    • Proven experience relating to different levels of the organization and working effectively with peers.

    • Proactive and positive. A team player who is willing to jump in to a fast-paced startup and work to improve processes
