SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the office manager/providers, this position will be responsible for assisting with patient assessment and care and maintaining appropriate documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have high school diploma, RN Degree, LPN Degree, graduate Medical Assistant Program, CNA Certification, as required by position. Must have CPR certification. Must have at a minimum completion of program externship or one year of relevant experience in a medical office setting.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Duties may include light to moderate exertion of manual effort in transporting materials, equipment, and/or patients; standing and/or walking; frequent lifting, bending, pushing, and/or pulling loads up to 25 pounds.

ACCIDENT OR HEALTH HAZARDS: Requires exposure to communicable disease and/or bodily fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. The tasks performed on the job produce exposure to injuries (cuts, fractures, strains, burns, etc.) obtained in use of equipment, hazardous material or health hazards (based on contact with communicable diseases) that could result in permanent or long-term illness or injury.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Agreeable office environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Perform routine pre-examination procedures including taking vital signs, assessing and recording objective and subjective data concerning presenting condition.
    • Assist physicians and non physician practitioners with examinations and procedures.
    • Prepare and clean the patient area; set up equipment, clean and facilitate room set up after a procedure.
    • Perform patient care measures including injections, minor dressing changes, and obtaining blood specimens.
    • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients and co-workers.
    • Maintain and ensure confidentiality of protected health information (PHI).
    • Maintain a system for accurately recording and reporting patient conditions in the medical record.
    • Monitor and order medical supplies as the demands of the clinic dictate.
    • In collaboration with the providers, create and maintain patient education information.
    • Follow providers directives regarding communication to patients i.e. test results, medication changes, etc.
    • Calibrate and check equipment daily and/or prior to use.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    • Assist with patient education.
    • Telephone prescriptions into pharmacy per provider order.
    • Perform routine laboratory tests.
    • Develop and maintain clinic’s SDS book.
    • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as required.
