Position: Medical Assistant
Location: Prime MD
We’re looking for a reliable, part-time medical office receptionist/MA for a busy medical practice in Columbia, MD. You will have an array of responsibilities that will allow us to continue to provide exceptional care to our patients You’ll answer phone calls, schedule appointments, room the patients, and assist with visit preparation. Primary Duties & Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Scheduling appointments
- Answering all phone calls and routing to appropriate personnel
- You will communicate and collaborate with the medical staff team to achieve common patient goals.
- You will maintain detailed administrative and medical records in our EMR system.
- You will prepare examination rooms and monitor supply levels.
- You will perform other medical and administrative duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.
- You will provide and coordinate office based care including preparing patients for examination, perform routine diagnostic tests, screenings, gather patient history, and administer vaccinations.
Required Qualifications:
- You have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You are a graduate from an accredited Certified Medical Assistant program or currently enrolled. Work experience can be substituted for education requirements.
- You have medical experience of at least 2-3 years.
- You have experience with an electronic health record system
- Outstanding communication skills both written and oral English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- You are capable of working in a fast paced environment and have exceptional skills with decision making, multitasking, and prioritization.
- Complete knowledge of insurance billing and procedures
- Experience in getting prior authorization of medications and procedures
- Knowledge of medications and ability to call-in medicine to pharmacies
- Ability to deal with older patients and knowledge of home health care companies
- You are a team player wanting to improve the health and wellbeing of all patients!
